It's because they've got the best fans in the world or something. You know, that fat twat who rings that bell, and erm...Did the FL not say that they had to come out of administration by the end of the season or they'd be expelled from the League? Seems as though that club can get off Scot free and attract as much sympathy as it likes.
Yes they get away with it all the time.
Remind me what have they got away with previously?
I blame CCFCWAY for starting this thread back in February! Stand up against the wall and be shot, Sir!!
They're under no obligation to field a youth team, in fact it'd have been irresponsible to do so, and in any case that's nothing to do with why they were able to sign players. Apart from that though, spot on.er, they flatly refused to play any youth team last season and as a result were able to sign players on loan, despite being under an embargo

Weren't they on professional contracts though? Pompey just had kids who certainly weren't on pro deals, hence the dispensation. Would you want to put a load of 16 year olds up against seasoned pros? Yes, that would be irresponsible. We had to play Bigi, Thomas etc
Irrisponsible ?
I see Pompey are signing players again - five or six so far this month. Is that because they have no squad or are they beginning the cycle over again?
I am so sick of this motherfucking thread on this motherfucking forum
Pompey fan here. I posted this on another thread but thought I'd paste it here as well but I would like to say that I am gutted about the situation your club has found itself in.
I have been watching my team for the last 20 years and have enjoyed some very good times and some very , very bad times.
I have spent the last 4 years seeing various parties kicking the sh*t out of my beloved club and just when we thought it was dead, they kicked it some more. We're still on life support but slowly the rebuilding begins and one by one the wrongs put right.
As supporters you must unite (which I see from the comments on this site that you have already done) and take on the guys in charge who don't give a monkeys about you or the club.
I feel sick at the thought of Pompey going into liquidation so cannot imagine how you guys a feeling but just know that the football fans across the country can all see that it is the people who run the club, not the club itself who are at fault.
I sincerely hope it works out well for your guys.
From a Pompey Fan.
Now as a Pompey fan I'd love to echo the sentiments of my fellow Pompey fan however I struggle to do so reading through this thread. The bitterness of a certain poster who started the whole thread as well as my own experience of going to the RICOH when our troubles were at their very worst to have money flashed and waved at us and chants of 'pay up pompey' while we got on and supported our own team on and off the field.
Now it seems as our troubles are begging to be sorted out by the passion and work of our wonderful supporters trust your club is on the brink, playing in Northampton and selling only 240 season tickets. I cant help feeling nothing but irony as i read through this thread, what goes around comes around.
Tomorrow is the start of the new season and with us selling 10,000 more season tickets than yourselves and having a sell out crowd for tomorrows game I cant help but be excited for whats ahead, promotion? Maybe, but one things for sure, you'll be in League Two next season without a ground and we'll be on the up!
Oh and to all the genuine Coventry fans who have wished us well and I know there have been many I do hope all this mess is sorted its a shame for football, Im sure you can galvanize your supporter base and pull off a similar rescue to our own.
All the best in the future

yeh, i am aware that some Coventry fans were giving us stick when we were at our lowest ebbs, but so were supporters of most other clubs too and to be fair it would only have been a minority and let's face it, we can all laugh about it now (can't we?). Every club has some idiot fans.
At the end of the day, while the two situations are not identical, this is still a case of power struggles at the top hurting the fans at the bottom and no-one wants to see that.
The two circumstances couldn't be any more different and the comments which constantly came from your own fans and manager at the time were always tunes of playing the victim. The Football League has bent over backwards persistently and broken its own rules to get you to your present position-that support is not forthcoming for us.
Unlike Portsmouth this is not the classic 'we don't have a pot to piss in' scenario but an elaborate attempt by the owners at starving ACL into submission over the Ricoh to form an exit strategy-they are not comparable. The League refused to let Chainrai maintain control of Portsmouth but happily let SISU stay in charge here-why?
Situation may differ but the basics are the same, you have a Stadium you can't afford and dont fill so are losing money. What the owners of your club do is up to them not the football league, something we know too well.
And the Football League helped us ?! You mean after they let him take control twice after putting us into administration the first time?! The only reason the League managed to help in the end was because of years of lobbying from MP's, the club, fans, the trust and some blogs revealing the true extent of his past!
And how can you say the Football League haven't been lenient on you?! You got a 10 point deduction! 10 points for being liquidated without a CVA?! Leeds got 15 points deducted for coming out of administration without a CVA, you've been liquidated ffs! Should have at least been -15 if not more!
another spanking for them today. Lost 4-0 to the team we beat 3-1 last week, Wimbledon
