Re: Simms penalty, I think we have all seen that Simms finishing is much better when it's instinctive and he doesn't have time to think. He struggles when he has time and options missing a fair few 1v1's last season. A pen he has too much time and too many options, I was always going to be a disaster.
Lampard will get him working on penalties in training. It was his first penalty as a professional and frankly, like you, I didn’t feel confident.
It is a shame that we were missing our top 3 penalty takers in Wright, Torp and Rudoni. I’m surprised Eccles or Sheaf didn’t take one as they’ve scored in shootouts for us previously and ahead of Simms in the pecking order.
