What’s great about the Grimes signing is that it’ll push Sheaf further up the pitch to where he’s most effective.
Agreed, Swansea this season have played him deeper, in front of the back 4, and it’s inevitably made his attacking output drop.Reading what Lampard said about Grimes, it sounds like he thinks Grimes can be effective further fwd so it might be the opposite.
Away at home to top teams
You're not a fan Torch are you?"When fit". Who're going to play in the 15-20 games he misses season after season?

Totally agree, you can be the best player in the world but if you're constantly injured its time to maybe look elsewhere and definitely have to fight your way back into a winning team !Steve, to be honest I actually don't mind Sheaf at all, but I don't get all the OTT adulation he gets.
The endless excuses too if he has bad games; "he has injections", "he's coming back from injury". On top of that the sheer amount of games he misses every season is unacceptable.
Then there are those who sayl the minute he's fit he should come straight back into the team without having to earn his place. No other player would get that kind of free hit.
If he stays injury free and ups his game, fine.
He shouldn't be captain either.
This obsession with 4 at the back from some is odd considering we are looking so much better with 5 atm. Why change formation?3-4-1-2 Formation - Footballizer
The 3-4-1-2 formation is a 3-4-3-based formation setup in football that consists of three central defenders, five midfielders, and two forwards.www.footballizer.com
Think this formation might suit the squad well for some matches this season.

1. Our two best players can easily fit into a 3ATB systemBecause our two best players don’t fit in it
1. Our two best players can easily fit into a 3ATB system
2. Do we get more points for fitting our best players in the team?
Fair point but who cares as long as we're winning and stopped shipping goals? EMC is really the only one. Haji can play up front and Sheaf when not injured can play in Allen's roll if he's not on his game. I also think Lampard may have plans to play Grimes in a bit more of an advanced position.Because our two best players don’t fit in it
I thought you meant Haji and GrimesHow do you get Haji and EMC into it? Both up front? 343 with Grimes and Sheaf in midfield and drop Rudoni?

With all respect to EMC, I would be more inclined to change a winning lineup for a player who’s consistently played well in literally hundreds of games at this level over a player who’s had less than 10 good Championship games in their entire career.Grimes hasn’t played a game for us yet. He might end up being but I’ve not seen him in our system to know.

I love the idea, but until I see it work in reality then I’m worried it’s all getting a bit ‘Lampard and Gerrard in midfield’. I don’t want to interrupt this good run for any reason at the moment.Him and Haji are our top goal contributors per minute despite their injuries. For me you’ve got to fit both in.

Why are you so desperate to change something that's working? How do you get Haji and EMC into it? Both up front? 343 with Grimes and Sheaf in midfield and drop Rudoni?

. I’ve said I wouldn’t change it until the form drops or a player gets injured. But given a blank slate I think you’ve got to fit them in. I’m interested to see how we get on with it.
If their best position is the same position then you have to pick 1 and put the other on the bench. I am not convinced Haji is a central striker and would rather have Ellis there anyway. If Haji can play on the right then EMC can play on the left but I'm not sure if Haji has ever played there.Him and Haji are our top goal contributors per minute despite their injuries. Can someone please clarify with me what players you would expect a 433 use. Middle 3 of a 6 and two 8s? Two 6s and one 8? Front 3 of a central striker and 2 wingers?
We are currently playing a 352 to good effect. Switching to 433 has alarm bells ringing for me that we would be too exposed, as was the case until recently hence why we were conceding so may goals.
Are we expecting that playing Grimes as a 6 is going to allow us to go back to a 433?
