Just scrap it ffs. The armchair fans and Twitter warriors have had their fun, I just want to talk about actual football again.

This sort of shite doesn't help either. Thought the beeb might be above generating arguments for clicks ...

We've gone so far away from why VAR was wanted in the first place - Lampard goal v Germany, Henry handball v Ireland, yards offside howlers. It literally takes seconds to decide on a clear and obvious error - Romero's - Might have been violent conduct, might have been reckless - Well that's not clear and obvious - Stick with the onfield decision and get on with it! 23 mins the ball was in play in the 57 min first half last night I think I heard them say!

The case for VAR does vanish a bit when the examples cited took place 13/14 years ago

Partly poor implementation of VAR, partly an ever-updating list of laws which the general public has no idea about. So many pundits, players, coaches, parents at kids matches don’t know the laws.

There are some quick-wins they should/could make with the technology - build in a margin of error for VAR-related offside decisions. Either make the line thicker and if they overlap then it’s left at the referee’s call. Stick a timer on decisions - if within, say, 15 seconds, there’s no CLEAR error, then it stays with the on-field decision. Both rugby and cricket have had video assistance for a hell of a lot longer, but it seems football’s pig-headedness has completely ignored those and decided it knows best.

My favourite situation recently has been a coach shouting about how something can be a free kick to my lad in the middle. He’s at least 20m away and my lad is 1m. I asked a parent whether he thought the coach was helping shouting twice and then a third time. The parent from the other side 20m away said well it wasnt a free kick
I said who’s more likely to be right someone 1m away or 20m. He said it wasn’t a free kick

All the ex pros and coaches and managers in the world however long they’ve played or managed will look at every decision against their team and cry foul

I think generally that may be correct but I watched the Spurs Chelsea game the other night and found it refreshing to hear Ange Postecoglu he had no complaints about the ref. dispite having 2 sent off .VAR was another matter.

Looked like Haaland had every bit as much of the defender's shirt as the defender did of Haaland's.

Stamford Bridge currently singing "You're not fit to referee" at Anthony Taylor for giving a penalty...

For once I agree with Carragher. Yes it's a foul by Cucurella which is understandably what Anthony Taylor has seen but it's a foul by Haaland first to get himself into that situation.

Haaland is just bigger and stronger and quicker. Chelsea player has grabbed his shirt and yanked him down. No need for the VAR wankfest, it’s a pen
