Pressley interview (1 Viewer)

It may be too soon to judge but even so I'm going to own up here. I did not consider Pressley was a particularly good appointment. Mark Robin's was and proved to be. Now Elvis seemed timid, coming from a less than average league in Scotland and has seemed so conciliatory that one could suggest we had a SISU puppet in tow, at times of cut backs.
He has side-lined experienced players and a lot on here disagree with that.

However he seems to have moulded a team together with experience and inexperience, giving players like Wilson their heads ahead of the bomb squad and so far the team attack and score for fun it seems, regardless of the opposition. The intricate play and confidence is clear to see and fitness seems at a higher level too.
Another 4 against a strong looking Preston side, one of the promotion favourites and we are the top goal scorers in the country!

The back though seems to have a problem but were all the goals yesterday directly the fault of the defence?

Got to say I'm warming to this guy and beginning to see what he is doing. Is it just good fortune shining on us so far? No I believe it's not. You can see the players look confident and are expecting good results. They also look like they are under less pressure playing at Sixfield's it must be said.

Pressley's interview was spot on and I like his tone of support for all his players. I sincerely hope this continues and he goes on to be a very good manager for us. It could not have been easy rejecting the likes of Mc.Sheffrey and others from the squad altogether, yet he obviously has more balls than I thought when he arrived. I'm beginning to get the feeling the players are liking him too...

Well - some would have dismissed him after 2-6 games when he took over. Personally I always give people a chance, & so far I did agree with his actions re: Bomb Squad...& it's paid off. It could equally have gone (& still could) horribly wrong. Too soon to tell - another 6 games before we can start to judge his ability. Shame is that I would be most surprised if all we sold most if not all of the family silver by this time next year regardless of where we finish.
That however is not a measure of SP - more a measure of the owners & the situation they've led us into.

Well, fans always say they want "Eric Black" like excitement and they're getting it. Long may it continue.

We are 2 weeks into the season. We can't judge until at least Christmas how our fortunes have gone.

Virtually everyone on here expected us to be bottom without the points reduction.

If thorn was in charge fans would demanding a knighthood instead of looking for negatives.

I think I said , "it may be too soon to judge but..."

Clearly some just want to run with whatever else comes to mind regardless of what is actually in a thread?

Agree, I thought he came across very well in the interview and seemed genuinely very positive. The manner in which he's brought the young players into the side is commendable. Particularly excited by Wilson, who with Clarke could be one of a 50 goal partnership this season, they link up very well and appear to be get on very well!

Have we got any Northampton born players who'd give their all for the shirt?

Get macca back in - he's a great lad, cov kid. He scored half as many as wilson in a whole season.

Yes it may be premature but that is EXACTLY how I feel.

I've been saying for a while to give Pressley a chance and he's doing a decent job under bad circumstances.
Where I stood in Singers Corner last season fans were on his back after only a handful of games giving him stick which I thought was unfair. We've all had our moans and groans watching the City over the years, but sometimes we just need to give managers and players some time.

Whilst I agree that SP could turn out to be an inspired appointment; I am mindful of the fact that at this moment the club is still in "siege mentality. Having said that;

Fans are fickle!
When we're back in the prem in a few years time, in our own stadium in Cov, it will be hail Joy & Pressley!
Fergie wasn't a great player & Steve could well follow him!
Very impressed with his attacking style of play!

I think in the current situation, SP is doing a great job.
With all the off field nonsense, he has remained positive.
He handles the media well and his interviews are refreshing.
Long may it continue, and well done Waggott!!!
