Pressley not to blame (2 Viewers)

Are you trying to say that we shouldn't have got rid of SP?

Insufficient playing staff? The playing side was good at Northampton. But we had the best strike force by miles. Any club would have loved to have had them. We had midfielders scoring goals. Defence? Don't think we had one. This cost us badly. But instead of tinkering with the defence we went full out defensively. We should have been top 6 minimum with the squad we had. Then he lost our strikers. This was when he was shown to be clueless to most. Having games without even having a shot on target but saying we bossed the game? What a joke. And a managers job isn't just choosing players, picking which players play and what formation is used. A major part is keeping morale as good as you can. Some players need a quiet word. Some need a boot up their arse. Team building helps. Having a go at players in public is bad though. Are you saying SP was good at this?

One more thing. If his squad was so poor how did TM turn things around and save us from relegation?

I agree with all this. As much as the squad has been lamented throughout the season, in comparison with those clubs in and around the play-offs we were on a par.

Yes of course our squad was because we also had midfielders chipping in with 10 plus assists and goals, as well as strikers at 15+ each!!

His man management of players since he arrived was appalling.
His signings were dreadful
His team selection was often baffling and his love of Webster was embarrassing
His interviews made you want to headbutt brick walls
His comments were often outrageous and left you asking yourself surely even he doesn't believe this crap
The style of football over the last 12 months was dull and crap

He'd have got more sympathy from me if he wasn't an idiot as well as a crap manager

Did I say we shouldn't off??? Like I said before in a previous post, we are in a much better position now then ever!

However the argument is varied and complex as he was not solely to blame for the demise in fortunes.

Are you now ready to take your tongue out of TM's arse as dogs do that, your not a dog are you Astute?

The squad was NOT top 6 minimum squad last season, far from it.

TM achieved the target of safety by getting forunate , using brave tactics and playing players in their correct positions.

Now its time to be nice and positive and let him build us from the bottom back into the once proud club we was.

So if you are making excuses for SP why say that we are in a better place now he has gone?

You have your tongue up SP's arse. I am pointing out the difference between SP and TM.

I said the squad we had whilst at Northampton. That was not last season. Are you saying that was a poor squad?

TM achieved the target of safety by getting fortunate , using brave tactics and playing players in their correct positions? So you admit SP was too defensive and played his players out of position then.

Time to be positive? I am the one being positive. But you are the one trying to find fault in me being positive whilst twisting and changing what I have said. It is me saying that I think we will be top 6. Not expecting but think.

And approved by Pressley because he's an idiot incapable of identifying his own targets because he knows little about the English game.

I am with you now and apologies. I thought you was referring to last season, not the Northampton season, the Northampton season was a decent squad not helped by the 10 point deduction, if we was without the 10 point deduction we would of finished even higher as the mental state of the players would of been better ( not worrying etc)

Of course I am saying we are better off, and of course I feel we can have a decent season, I am happy you are positive and optimistic and I am on your level now as you have made it clearer your providing an opinion based on what you think will happen, I am not here to argue with you Astute, lets hope we can get the correct personnel in the building give TM what he has asked for and try and build a successful club.

Alot was not approved by Pressley that was half the problem in the first place and his attitude and stubbornness put certain players off.

The first part is alleged. I agree with the rest. It had the same effect on us.

I'm talking about the teams from Sheffield United down, none of whom were anything special or miles better than us. A full season of TM with that squad and we would have competed for 6th place with the likes of Chesterfield, Rochdale, Fleetwood and Bradford.

Good comments and almost agreed, except maybe we would of needed some more help in the striking department after all its not like we was firing on all cylinders with TM at the helm, maybe an extra loan due to better contacts would of helped.

I had no idea why we changed formation and tactics from the previous season in sixfeilds . We went from an attacking, high press, we'll score more than you to a sit back, bend over and take it team.
I supported SP based on the season before and his links with the club, but by Christmas it was clear he needed to go.

RIP SP

Not sure how he can't be to blame when Mowbray did better with the same players.

Everyone really need to lay of the Preseley bashing.

Just to remind many of you that we survived a 10 point deduction under him that kept us in L1 straight after that those best players were sold with no fault of his own. You can only do so much with the owners we had and on top of that the clubs poor setup.

So did he achieve any success at our club since he was with us? Well yes.. we survived that season starting with minus 10 points.

Give him some credit where it is due guys.

I am totally convinced that had we not have had the 10 point deduction the players wouldn't have been so galvanised initially, they rolled their sleeves up and fought for and with each other to get the deficit back to parity

I would have been happy if we had kept the ball in the opposition half passing it that is ideal but players like Fleck just stand in with the centre backs and do two yard passes to each other moving nowhere, I think that the lack of pace in the side didn't help either, players like Messi although special players never stop moving and every pass is for a reason where as players like Fleck make lots of passes for stats and most are going nowhere.

Maybe he was told not to move very far, I never got to see Mowbrays team much did Fleck move more under him?

I think he was told by Pressley and now can't get away from it either through laziness or lack or brain power

I'd like to divert from blaming the owners for once and purely center on the ability of SP. I personally have to admit I find it difficult to comprehend how the majority don't even partially blame Pressley for our poor performance this season. Yes he kept us up during our 10 point deduction but the signings he made over the course of his tenure were no better than appalling. As a manager I think he's acceptable but if he's going to move onto better things in management his overall knowledge of players must improve dramatically. A good manager is able to work within a constricted budget and personally should throughly research the players he wants. Yes you could argue that he didn't have a suffient scounting department behind him but the amount of players he signed that were consistently poor or simply ineffectual under his managment is shocking and most managers would've been sacked in their first year of management instead of been given a 4 year contract. Yes the blame cannot be totally centred on him but he played a big part in this seasons struggle due to poor signings.

Whoever agreed that Akpom deal wants shooting. He was never here due to Arsenal youth games!

Think he's breaking through there now though, so probably a decent player, just didn't want to be here.

Totally agree. In reality he's actually an extremely promising player which he showed in the few games he did play for Arsenal/Nottingham Forest last season. Ridiculous deal though and exactly, he thought he was too good for this level. Again whilst the deal wouldn't have been signed off by SP, he should've realised that Akpom wouldn't have been able to keep up with the pace of playing up to 2 academy games in one week whilst giving his all for CCFC, stupid signing and lack of common sense. Again showed his naivity which is also highlighted by signing injury prone players such as Pugh, Miller and Johnson and expecting them to play week in week out
