Am I the only one that doesn't get excited about new contracts being signed in the modern era?

I agree Macca, contracts mean bugger all these days. I'm not sure he needs a new contract. The jury is still very much out on him for me.

I prefer to think of it being a way to ensure we can get more compensation for him if worse comes to worse and someone comes in for him. And if someone does come in for him, well that must mean he's done a decent job here.

At the very least, contracts in football are insurance policies against someone walking out for nothing.

Yes I agree in that respect but there are still people who think it means they are going to stay that long. Does worry me a 4 year contract though. History would suggest another early pay off

Let's look on the bright side. He's been here over a year and he hasn't given away a penalty or been sent off. He's certainly improved with age.
