The fitness coach Peter Tierney had to cut the grass at the Ricoh before a game one week because it wasn’t cut – amazing things and we can have a chuckle about it now that you would never assume would happen at a club like Coventry, but they did.

Have heard this mentioned before I think or somebody else was doing it.

Interesting to see about the wage budget being £2.2m and him saying it should have been £4.4m. Would have thought £4.4m was pretty high for League 1 and makes you wonder why we didn't do much the season before him?

Yep, defo heard about the pitch thing before, however what I dont agree with is the players meals etc, he often said he was in charge of the Football dept, therefore thats on him and his team. Mowbray changed stuff like that, and you can bet They aint doing it under Robins. Also makes his stance on "Reda yellow pissgate" even more odd.

Yeah hadn't heard about the players meals thing on the bus, it does seem a bit strange.

You can get healthy food pretty cheap, there wouldn't be a reason for it to be Beans on Toast before a game.

I am really struggling to see £4.4 million for that lot, especially when you take out all of the youngsters like Haynes, Garner, Burge etc.

For example lets say the Academy and loans got the 400k between them (still a lot) then it leaves 4 million between 21 players.

That's £190k per player, in League One where the average was about £69.5K.

Let's say there was a squad of 30 on the league's average wage, that's still only just over £2m so factors in academy being on less and experiences pros being on more.

£4.4m would get 63 players on an average league one wage of £69.5k a year.

Something really doesn't add up.

Well there were rumours that Baker was on silly money for the league which is why he was bombed out, something like 6k a week if I remember well. Can see David Bell being on a wedge too if his salary was as crazy as his 5 year contract offer. I bet McSheff, Fleck, Joe Murphy, Cody McD and Leon Clarke weren't cheap either.

If it's correct though it just shows serious mismanagement within when recruiting players and basically pissing money away.

£4.4m in League One...

Chris Coleman signed Richard Wood too he would have been on a good wage, was a former Sheffield Wednesday captain if I recall the season before we beat Ipswich and Crystal Palace to his signature for a speculated £500,000.

Pretty sure Mowbray changed the ‘travelling on the day’ thing. If Presley felt so strongly about it when he was here, begs the question why didn’t he get it changed?

Whilst he seems like a genuinely nice chap, I’m not sure he is right for managing under difficult circumstances

If Mowbray and then Robins can come in and get things changed, then surely it’s a quality he may lack?

Not convinced given how things turned out, holding Mowbray up as an example to follow is entirely good practice.

Staying overnight isn't suddenly a new thing for us. We've had some overnight stays in hotels in the past 12 months. The lower down the leagues you go, the more teams will travel on the day though...purely financial.

Wasn’t he saying it in the context of not affording or being able too, stay in hotel overnight so no meal after but snap on the coach Home. Rather than what it was

Even if Cov (or any other club for that matter) don't stay overnight, they all, without exception, will still go to a hotel for a pre match meal. This obviously costs a lot less than rooms the night before, with dinner and breakfast as well.

Didn’t it take Mowbray about 2 weeks of negotiations, to be able to take over the finances for the football department? Hence mark Venus coming in and doing that side for us? I don’t think Pressley was in charge of the footballing budget in that sense. He probably decided the players and that’s about it.

Yes-Pressley didn't sign any of the above but had to pick up the pieces when they were sold and had to still try and compete.
