Right decision for him to go but Waggott Fisher & SISU should not be allowed to hide behind it. Yes SP picked the players who signed but he didn't set the budget and from what was said previously he didn't negotiate the contracts. If SP needed two players in to cover a painfully thin squad then the players at risk of being moved on are the ones paid the most especially if they don't quite "fit" with the manager. Waggott and Fisher will throw figures out to justify their position - that they backed SP with a top six budget etc but we wont ever know will we? Even the figures each of them put forward are not the same - and as so often the dots do not join up to form a proper picture.
SP - yes was a decent bloke, he worked hard, he was committed etc but that only takes you so far - you need much more that to achieve results. I think he got lost in the whole damn mess and couldn't see the wood for the trees. That said his other attributes seem to be a refusal to back down, a refusal to take on board what was in front of him. if you like an arrogance of only he knew best. His reliance on stats and analysis is the modern way but if it looks like a duck, waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck then it is very very likely to be a duck, the team was not achieving anything like what it should have. The team were not hurting other teams by their possession, there was little speed of movement or thought, there was little consistency, little threat, little control of the game in the opponents behalf and very little physicality or strength. Every one could see that but still he continued in the SP way. Nice guy but I wont miss him. That said good luck in where ever life takes him and thanks for trying so hard
But it will be all SP's fault as far as the owners and directors of CCFC are concerned wont it ........... :thinking about:
