Just wondering, are people still saying 'play offs? '

Disgraceful performance, as bad as anything we seen under Thorn, Boothroyd and Coleman.

Too angry to analyse the game at the moment.

By far the worst team in our history.
Nothing up front nothing in defence and as for the midfield well we don't have one!!!!

Keep playing like that we will get relegated!!
Preston are a poor side we made them look astonishing:(

We will get 8000 next week who is going to pay anything to watch that garbage:thinking about:
Oh yes me

We hoofed it because preston pressed and gave us little other option than to hoof. No plan b

We were hoofing from minute 2 of the game. Nothing to do with Preston. Seemed to be the plan from kick off. Haynes and Clarke had plenty of space today but we never used it

We were hoofing from minute 2 because preston came racing out of the blocks and were all over us. We were on the back foot from the first minute. They put us under pressure and we hoofed. Our centre backs are pretty shit on the ball.

There was plenty of space out wide but our midfield were never given time to look up and find them. I'm not making excuses, because they should be better than that. I don't believe that hoofing it was a deliberate tactic by Pressley, which is what I think your suggesting.

The City boss said: "We were lacking in confidence in our performance. We need to show more belief in ourselves and make more we do better in games.

"That stops with me. I've got to find out why that performance happened and get us playing the way we can play.

"We went seven games unbeaten but to lose three games in a row isn't good enough for what we want to do this season.

"I accept that and we've got to turn this around. We've got to show some belief and some hunger to make sure that performance doesn't happen again.

"We need to play better in front of our own fans and I will take responsibility for what they saw today."

Coventry City drop to 14th after the defeat with Preston rising to 6th in the League One and Pressley wants huge improvement for the Crawley Town match next week.

He added: "Preston showed they're a very strong team and they were very physical. They didn't let us settle and didn't let us get it on the floor and play.

"We needed to get the ball into the strikers quicker and we actually changed immediately in the second half.

"It was our best period of the game and it was a poor time to concede because we were on top at that point.

"It needs to improve for Crawley next week and we need to run out of this run. Three straight defeats shouldn't happen at this club and we'll be determined to put this right."

I find that a very curious thing to say. Bizarre.

or perhaps it's because the manager knows less about football than the average forum poster.

seriously which is more likely? we are struggling because we vastly cut the wage budget and recruited under extremely difficult circumstances with little to spend while changing the majority of the squad and filling the rest with kids or that the manager knows less about football tactics than a vocal few here?

Correct Noggin.

Best players have been sold, players who only 12 months ago were ripping defences apart, and replaced with loan signings many of which are only here until January including 2 or 3 makeweights in a deal for Wilson.

Seriously, what do you expect?

Do you seriously imagine that a new manager would make a difference against a backdrop of no investment?

Zero investment, zero ambition.

I can only apologise once again, they won't be attending next week.

My 3 year old made me take him to the toilet 4 times during the first half and again at half time. I wouldn't mind, but he didn't even go. All his sweets gone after 10 mins, luckily angry birds kept him quiet for 40 mins in the second half!!

Can't you just buy your own?

I don't disagree. Clarke cannot attack and Haynes cannot defend. The midfield is bunched and strangled and the forwards have no presence.

Haynes made two goal saving tackles today which saved the scoreline from being even more humiliating, doesn't make up for the rest of the teams performance but he certainly doesn't deserve picking out for criticism

He did make two cracking challenges. His positional play isn't great at times though.

Is that those 2 in Block 20, Row PP who never stop arguing with each other?

I agree, Haynes this week looked poor going forward but defended well. One of the few bright sparks today. As was Hines who looked solid. I wouldn't mind seeing Hines and Johnson (once he's back from suspension)

Twice today Hayne was in front of his attacker when he was marking and the opposition were on the attack. That was very poor. Just a plain no no.

Agreed, and especially I'm the first half most of PNE's attacking play came down our left

No the highlight was the action in block 15.....

From what I have been told a Bloke had a bottle thrown at him, moaned to the Police, and they arrested him???

It really sums up our performance when the 2 highlights are goal line challenges..

The worry for me is that for a while numerous posters have questioned two things. 1) the cover we have available if any of the first choice team aren't available and 2) the lack of a plan b

Both those things seem to have caught us out today. Now the squad strength might not be the fault of SP, although he did say at the fans forum it was down to him. The lack of a plan b certainly is down to him. It was clear early on today that we had problems but we just keep going with the same thing hoping it will come off. I can't believe that professional footballers, no matter how thick they are, aren't capable of reverting to a 442 or other more traditional formation when required.

The worry is that other teams have watched us and worked out how to beat the system so no matter what tinkering he makes to the team we're going to struggle. Maybe this formation requires a better standard of player and will only work at a higher level. We're in L1 and sometimes its going to be a physically, scrappy games and we don't seem able to cope with that. It seems all it takes is to push high on the full backs and we're essentially playing 5 at the back and inviting wave after wave of pressure.

Has to be sorted quickly. If we want to have any hope of promotion we can't be dropping many points at home, especially with our away record, and we certainly can't be losing at home too often.

Big couple of weeks now, we should be capable of getting 6 points from the next 2 league games. Do that and we're back on track, drop more points and we'll be looking more towards a relegation battle than promotion.

Ah, if I had a penny for eveytime we've said that over the years I'd have several pounds by now.

As the CT quoted, Preston are known for doing that and SP was well aware that would happen. So there are no excuses for being unprepared for it or for not having a plan to counter it. Preston score a large number of their goals in the first 15 minutes.

They didn't look like scoring today, in the end they scored after a needless free kick was given away, and then a penalty. We were very poor, they were poor.

How can the weakness of the team not be the fault of the manager? Is there a suggestion that this season he hasn't picked every single player? Was there any suggestion of that last season? Only when there was no other excuses did Pressley come out and start claiming the selection was out of his hands - funny when it was supposedly all tickety- boo he was more than willing to accept all the plaudits!

The current performance cannot be considered a blip. Just 8 wins in the whole of 2014! that's 8 wins out of 33 games. The entire myth of Pressley has been based around the run of 7 wins out of 10 this time last year and 2 back to back wins this season! Hardly deserving of a 4 year contract is it! Especially when you consider how many of those games were won by extra time goals! Add to that 31 players in 15 months, and by no stretch of the imagination does he deserve the plaudits he has gotten!
