Thats What happens when your best player leaves.

Sheffield Wednesday have told their supporters if thy wear counterfeit tops to the game they could be asked to leave, they have spotters out watching.

Football is becoming even madder.
This one is hilarious to me. Most copies these days are almost impossible to spot unless you're stood right in front of it with the official shirt right next to it.

Are they going to go around inspecting each shirt before you're allowed into the stadium? Can't see how they'd be able to police it.

His record does not have 2 promotions in 7 years on a shoestring budget, an FA cup semi-final and a playoff final on it

None of that matters does it really. King has bought this club for promotion and so he will want a season that makes it at least achievable. This is a huge season for Robins - promotion from prior leagues are meaningless to him,

Seems really odd that. Why would you let someone be in charge of the whole of preseason if there is a chance you could sack them after one game. It surely cant have been because of that one result?

Yes and no. Playoffs will be the target this season but if you still look at our squad, it’s still short of 2-3 players to be really considered anything close to automatic standard. I’m holding out on signing a marquee CM as intended with Stamenic. Likewise, there’s a need for a CB who preferably has experience - we’re often v naive in defence.

Questions would only start to be asked if we fail to make the playoffs this season in my view.

Not sure I'd agree with that, in that DK has seen how MR has helped turn this club around, and would be surprised if he didn't see that he may be cutting off his nose to spite his face by wielding the axe. The backlash from fans would be significant imo. If we looked like we were going backwards into next season, that might be different.

King will see the managers job to deliver his goal. Unlike the last owners he expects delivery.

He was close to wielding it last season according to rumours after the Rotherham debacle. Words were certainly had.

A lot of pundits see the squad as a top 6 squad and so do the supporters. We have to do better than last season overall and certainly make a far better start.

Agree with the first part, but it's not hard to see us beating Oxford, but losing the 2 games against Bristol (who I think will be up there this season). Provided we then beat Norwich, get Sheaf back, and strengthen, I will be content.

I'm sure there was a guy on here years ago that was banging on about not enough money going into the club but then admitted he had bought a standard Nike template top and a Cov badge and ironed it on, thus depriving the club of some merchandise revenue.

Think it might have been Bob Latchford?!

His record is similar to MR, no wins in six.

Why is this stat being used here and on Twitter with zero context ?

Would you have preferred us to lose to Maidstone or Wolves to ensure we had the energy levels to see out the season ?

Or are you like so many other Cov fans who wanted both from a squad that was lacking in depth and cover, and ultimately struggled with exhaustion ?

Robins hand was dealt by Doug wanting the cup run. He gave it to him but at the cost of the league challenge.

Look I don’t think any manager is perfect but comparing Mark Robins to Ryan Lowe
throwing up dumb and dumber GIF

I DIDNT underline it and it was to show how Preston have jumped whereas we’ve given MR more time, quite rightly

You didn't underline it. I did to highlight what I was arguing against.

And I get what you're trying to say. But it comes across as a disingenuous mark against Robins. Robins had recognisable reasons for our losses. Whereas the online talk is that Lowe chose to walk away. He wasn't sacked due to those defeats.

Using that stat to compare records of managers under totally different circumstances is foolhardy. As I said, zero context.

But what's annoyed me most is that the losses have been used quite extensively over the weekend by our fans, as if it underlines Robins' failings. Probably the same ones who want half our team dropped after just one game.

Mentioning the losses at all discounts our situation last season and only amounts to pointing fingers.

A lot of what we have been able to do with King at the helm has happened because of MR's legacy of work before he arrived. There is no Haji Wright, Ellis Simms, MVE, Rudoni.... without MR's past work. He has more credit in the bank with DK than Lowe had with Ridsdale. That was the comparison being made, to think otherwise is blind beyond belief.
