He is not asking for recognition for himself or SISU though, which is what he is being accused of. He thinks it is 'something we [the first English club to visit and support a refugee camp] should all be very proud of, as we help some of the most disadvantaged people in the world'. Shouldn't we be proud of such a unique gesture?If he didn't want recognition he would have just done it and sent the stuff, I think the left over kit should be used locally and then if nobody wants it then send it elsewhere.
As much as Fisher's the big baddie, I'm happy we're a club that does this. Didn't we send a job lot of old kits to Africa too? I remember them asking for donations a few years back.
Coventry City Football Club is supporting a charity which helps to promote and provide education to children in Sierra Leone after a young boy was spotted wearing a Sky Blues shirt during a BBC news report before Christmas.

SISU are not even mentioned - the decision to send kit was made with David Busst and Richard Stevens. Should be ashamed of yourself for trying to slight any charity donations by dragging PR and politics into it.

This is where Coventry City can and will help these people. The fight against ISIS goes on in Syria and Iraq with people continuing to be displaced from their homes and everyday lives.
Following conversations with Club CEO Dave Boddy, Academy Manager Rich Stevens and Sky Blues in the Community Manager Dave Busst on my return from Iraq, I am delighted to say that Coventry City has arranged to send a huge amount of old, used and second hand football kit to the camp to support and run the football efforts in the camp.
The people I met, both refugees and aid workers in the camp, are truly remarkable and visiting the camp really does put our lives in the UK into context.
We are the first English club to visit and support a refugee camp in this manner and this is something we should all be very proud of, as we help some of the most disadvantaged people in the world.
I donate time, effort and money on a regular basis to all sorts of charities home and abroad.
I don't seek PR and kudos from it.
Most people do it in a quiet and moderate way under the radar. Those with "class" do anyway, in my opinion.

My objection is Fisher trying to promote himself as the good guy.
The article reads that "he" visited Iraq and on "his" return discussed with DB and RS and now kit is being sent.

To repeat earlier, yes donate, yes support charities but don't try to get cheap positive publicity from it, especially when your name is Tim Fisher.
If you want to do something positive for CCFC fans tell us about the academy and where we are playing next season.

The first in which you 'commended' him and the next 3 used to slag him off for it, suggesting he was: not discreet enough, making PR out of it, pretending he's a hero, raised a snide and leading question about the funding of the trip and then insinuated that they shouldn't be doing foreign charity at all because 'charity begins at home'. 'From the boardroom' is published on the website after every home game, that hasn't changed. Between you and Fisher, the only person making this about him is you. Letting your hatred of an individual get in the way of recognising this for what it is, is a disgusting attitude. If you think he's flown all the way out there for a cheap publicity stunt with all the other outstanding issues, you're as bonkers as Fisher is.

I've donated to Oxfam every month since I got my first salary back in 1998. Unlike TF I don't need to inspect Oxfam's work in person in order to do my bit.
Totally agree with this. Hate certainly is a destructive emotion.Some people. Hate is such a distructive emotion. Not directed at anyone in particular but sometimes the negativity needs to be put aside just occassionally.
