Protests that will affect SISU (1 Viewer)

To be fair Nick, your ideas are "see if we can find out who the investors are", which isn't really an idea as we can't. You mention Welcome Break, but that was 13 years ago. There's no way of knowing who they are invested in, or who is invested with them. It's a non-starter.

They've got small offices in Mayfair with a few people in and that's it. You ain't gonna get people down to London regularly, so it's not really a viable protest.

Not saying any of the other ideas are better, but let's not pretend you've given us a solid gold idea.

I've also said "I'll post more from my computer" so I can go through previous suggestions as well and put them all together.

I've never said anything I have said is solid gold or implied it. I have just said in this thread that it's more than Astute, COAB and singers_pore have suggested while they are trying to dig me out for not suggesting anything.

It isn't just finding investors, it's finding others who may have dealt with them or are in "their world".

isn't it sad that because of everything going on off field that most these threads are now keyboard warriors picking holes and generally being pricks to each other.

presumably we are all on here because we are city fans... its a absolutely shite state of affairs... everyone is pissed off... im sick of going to the games... im sick of the shit football... sick of SISU... and now getting pretty bored with these threads!

The reason people are "digging" you out is that you criticize the protests of some fans (whistle gate, smoke bombs etc) but you haven't actually done any form of protest yourself. Not saying you can't have an opinion on what other fans are doing, but if you are going to criticize then why not lead the way by organizing the type of protest you would like to see?

Also, I am not particularly interested in you telling other fans what they should or should not be doing. I am far more interested in what you are actually going to DO.

You ask what I have done. Well three things.
1. Offered financial support to one of the people involved in the protest.
2. Offered to meet up with you and Grendel to do a protest outside SISU HQ. No reply as yet.
3. I have a close contact who is a major player in the short selling world. I have spoken with him about trying to short sell the Wasps bond in order to put them under financial pressure. Unfortunately that didn't work out as I hoped for due to some technical reasons that I won't bore you with.

Anyway, my point is that some fans are doing what they can according to what they think is an appropriate form of protest. Other fans simply make snide comments and don't actually do anything.

We are waiting to hear what you intend to do in order to take the protest to SISU rather than the club. You've said you are going to come up with a list. That's great. Hopefully you will actually do the things on the list as well.

I'm interested. I'd only understand half of it ;) but I'm interested...

So you have actually done no more than me then but are telling me what I should be doing?

I could understand if it was last, the trust or somebody going down that route.

I can't remember ever telling people what to do either? I have made always suggestions and been constructive and will have a decent list of things that are direct at SISU rather than CCFC.

As I say it didn't work out for technical reasons relating to the short selling mechanism. Basically the Wasps bond is thinly traded so it's difficult to find bond holders who are willing to lend bonds to a short seller. I tried both my short selling contact (actually he's probably the most famous short seller in the world) and my broker in Hong Kong. No dice.

Through work I have some contacts with the owners of the new MLS club LA FC who will be starting up next season. It's a long shot but when the opportunity arises I will ask them if they would be interested in buying a L1 or L2 club. 99 percent sure the answer will be no but no harm in asking I suppose.

How about a mass mailing campaign......send all sorts of parcels to their Mayfair offices......

lets send them all sorts of bizarre & extraordinary items......

a box of kippers, a tonne of top soil, a massive box of polystyrene chips, a selection of rotten fruit, some unpackaged sex toys, etc. etc.

....you know the sort of thing...... think subversive generation game conveyor belt

or how about we start to send them building supplies ready for the new ground they promised.....

.....we can send a pallet of breeze blocks, bags of sharp sand, rolls of turf.....I'm sure kerbside deliveries of this stuff every week would be welcomed in a posh Mayfair street....

For the sake of 60p stamp I'd go with a small note (nothing ruse or abusive) inside the envelope so that someone will have to open it.. If we could get this on a very large scale of say 10,000 then it could tie them up for a couple of days.
Same with email's. I'd have thought individual emails would be better as they'd be harder to block than one person sending a few hundred.

So you have actually done no more than me then but are telling me what I should be doing?.

First I haven't said anything about what you should be doing. I have simply asked you what you are going to do. Big difference between telling someone what they should do versus asking them what they will do.

Second I told you three things I have done. Apologies if I missed it but I don't recall seeing anything from you about what you have done. So what have you done?

Absolutely nothing. Clearly.

I'll keep listing ideas and brainstorming then if something sticks then I can try and develop it further.

Oh, put SISU capital into Google ;)

Not sure how you go about doing it but could we not have a Wikipedia page setup on their behalf?
Wiki pages seem to come quite near the top of any searches.
For obvious reasons it couldn't contain anything libelous.
Protest pictures, new stadium plans(!), etc...

Exactly ,we have been protesting against SISU for about 8 years, and its got nowhere. Unless some fan is mad enough to fire an exocet through their office windows, then most of the protests in London where they are based, have little or negligible effect. Whilst I wouldn't ever invade the pitch and certainly never throw smoke bombs,it has been actions like the pitch invasion against Sheff Utd that has attracted far more publicity nationwide, than 20 or so fans protesting outside SISU offices.
If people claim these actions only affect CCFC and not SISU, then the same is true of the 8-9,000 fans who no longer go, there non attendance only affects CCFC and not SISU. Next year, me and along with it seems, thousands of other season ticket holders, will not be renewing. People are going to continue to vote with their feet, that is crystal clear.
Not sure the option, 'just support the club' is a realistic one anymore, no one seriously doubts that gates are going to drop next year. The atmosphere now at the Ricoh is terrible, next year in Division 2 in front of 3-4,000 crowds, its going to be even worse. Lower gates, less income, reduced playing budget, worse team, rinse and repeat.

Just made the mistake of looking at the goals from Saturday. It was bad enough on the day but seeing them again - how terrible was our defending. Also depressing catching sight of the league table again in this morning's paper. Unless there's some miracle signings on their way relegation has got be nailed on. Back to this thread, does anyone have links for the different fans groups to pass ideas on (I looked at the Sky Blue Trust website and there's a statement on there saying they don't condone Saturday but I can't see anything about other ways of protesting).

Hi - go gentle, first time poster!
I am a Swindon Town fan, and have been following your trials and tribulations from afar - although more closely given our proximity in the league these days. Back in the mid 00's we had a situation where our existing owner was utilizing a highly dubious character to advise them on the running of the football club, with what appeared to be motives of extracting as much value for himself as possible (his firm provided marketing, the programmes and was attempting to secure ground development for example).
Without boring you on the background, thought it worth advising on what appeared to work in the end in shifting the ground when it came to ownership.
Months of protests were required and in all fairness, on there own they did little. However, the significant change occurred when the Trust gained potential backers to at least begin making public offerings to purchase the club. They did not have millions to invest, more enough to provide an exit strategy and enough experience to pull together a business plan that could sustain the club post purchase. This took quite an effort, and the current owners were not of a mind to engage in discussions - they were not ready to sell, had no plans to sell etc. What it did do though was shift the conversation in the media, asking the owners why they were not getting involved, what were there plans then? etc. It also presented a way out - until this point they had been determined to stay, they had a long term reward they thought they could get by developing a ground, so they hadn't even bothered seeking external investors to buy them out. This shift in conversation appeared to focus them towards a much quicker path to cutting losses and being able to exit the business - and the press coverage made it very clear the club was sellable. It took only a few months after that for outside investors to come forward and make them an offer they felt was too good to stick around any longer for.
The point here was that the protests continued and served as a reminder that they had little hang around for, the work to build a business plan and offer to purchase by the trust changed their mindset and opened the door to others.
You need your Trust to focus almost entirely on the how do we buy them out side, what would make them begin to nibble? The protests can continue to make it clear they don't have a customer base backing them (they don't think of them as fans), it won't make them budge on it's own but it helps make the exit more appealing.
