Question about Highfield Road (1 Viewer)

Good evening.
Hoping you guys can help me out. For reasons I won't trouble you with, I'm trying to find out what the stand was called that I would have been in as an away fan at Highfield Road in October 1987. (Really hoping it's something more imaginative than "The North Stand" or something!) And, would I have been sitting or standing? I have a very vague recollection of standing, but I also thought HR was all-seater at that time.

Hoping you can help! In case you're interested, I'm a Watford fan, and you won 1-0. :)

Cheers.

You would have been in the Sky Blue Stand sitting

If you were behind the goal standing then it would be the Spion Kop, if you were seated which was along the touchline at the end of the stand then it was the Sky Blue Stand

I can understand the confusion as the away fans were often moved around the stadium ie Spion Kop, Right Hand Side , Looking From the West Terrace , Near left hand side of the Sky Blue Stand , Looking from the West Terrace , However , if memory serves me correct - in 87 away fans were in the the far right hand corner of the Sky Blue Stand, Looking from the West Terrace .

Troy we went all seater around 1981
this was seen as a bad idea, mainly because at one end, there was no cover over the seats and I think by around 1984 the seats were removed from that end

it remained standing at that end until post hillsborough and then we were forced to go back to all seater

some memorable watford moments at HR

League cup 5-0 on the way to our semi final in 80-81
84? the steve sherwood goal for watford (scored direct as a goalkeeper v Raddy avramovic)
88 you beat us in the cup (we were the holders) in the most 1 sided game i ever saw that we still lost

My family moved from Watford to Solihull in 1986 (I was 11 at the time, so didn't have a say!) so I went to pretty much all Coventry v Watford games at HR and the Ricoh after that. I was at all 3 league and cup games in 87/88. We were crap in all 3, but somehow got a win in the cup game. You did the league double though - all the games ended 1-0. When you beat us at Vicarage Road, we knew our time in Division 1 was up. I also remember that we knocked you out of the FA Cup either side of your win in 1987! And, I remember a truly hideous 4-0 Coventry win in our first Premier League season in 99 - I think Robbie Keane was playing for you then. I genuinely mean this when I say, it's very sad to see what's going on with you guys at the moment (and for what seems to have been a long time now.) But keep fighting, and keep the faith. With proper clubs like yours and mine, everything is cyclical. Things may get worse before they get better, but they WILL get better.

Best of luck.

Thanks, appreciate your thoughts, and we WILL be back! Good luck over the remainder of the season (I was at the '88 cup game)

They were there and behind the goal from when the ground reverted back to terracing (84?)

Think the cup game we had something like 22 attempts on goals to Watford 1, which Trevor Senior scored from. Might have been his only goal of the season too as I remember he was a massive flop.
