Questions For Tony (3 Viewers)

People get on his back because he isn't trying anywhere near as hard as he could be doing. The only showing of not having a scoobie is the fact that you don't understand that.
I make a 360mile round trip to watch, and I understand that getting on his back will only
make him go backwards. I also understand where we are,and don't go expecting to watch
a loaned 19 year old ripping teams to shreds every week.
Honest question do you think in some games,he doesn't try on purpose.

I don't believe he does it on purpose, it's just a bad habit that he's got into, and one he's not only got used to but been allowed to get away with. Hence why I think the man management needs to be better if we're going to get the best out of him. The getting on his back comes hand in hand too. If you're not trying as hard as you should be and the manager isn't making that clear then the paying public may well decide to make their thoughts heard.

I really want the lad to do well, and we've seen what he can do, but I really do believe he can do it a bit more often if he put more effort in.

I just think with him it's a confidence issue rather than a habit, and I too would
of thought it would be improving by now.Still can't see how getting on the lads
back is going to help anyone, most of all him.
I dont think any of his better performances here, will of surprised anyone at
norwich , i bet there a little concerned he isn't becoming more consistent
though.
Not being rude when I don't answer again, work calls.

He is a proper good old winger through and through, and as that he prob never going to like tackling and tracking back as much as he should. We have the 2 in front of the defence to counteract that. He is a luxury player and i can only see him getting better and better through his career. Its his first full season dont forget too, he is a player who will always be in and out of the game but when he is in it boy is he good and when he out he can look bad.

He is a striker playing in a midfield role. When he has been played up front he has looked a different player. But TM seems to like to play with one striker and Armstrong is that one striker.

It's the same with all talented players, and Murphy's one of them...we get frustrated when we don't see them fulfilling their potential. As has been said many times, he's young and a tad petulant, but he's a match winner. Lamieras should be given more starts but not over Murphy...we need his moment of inspiration that can win a game.

As I have consistantly said on this subject Murphy is one of those players that thrive on confidence and his mind set sometimes makes him disappear in games. I do isolate my view when at the matches and watch individual players on and off the ball it can be quite an eye opener sometimes within two minutes of the Bury game the knobs down the front started to have a go at Murphy and the look on his face is of anguish and says I don't need this shit! The crowd has to recognise the kids of today are not mentally tough and constantly need to be cajoled and praised to stop them wilting in the game. People on here will be thinking "I don't need to praised I am fucking hard! " yes they probably are because of certain circumstances that have happened in their lives but they must stop trying to compare how they would do in the same situation. Do you remember Eric Cantona's flying kick? he was a fucking hard bastard and taught the moron a right old fucking lesson did'nt he and that made him feel good to get it out of his system all be it expensive to himself personally. Murphy does not have that same resilience .lets encourage the youngsters instead of slating them

In August many on here were drooling over the talk we were signing Chris Eagles, we didn't Bury did, we ended up with Jacob Murphy on probably half the wages. Who got the better deal ?

It might depend on if you live in Earlsdon or not to what your answer is.

I'd agree that it is a bad habit that he's fallen back into. I picked up on it when he made his first appearance at Walsall early on in the season. His footballing brain when defending is a couple of steps behind play, most likely because he's never had to concentrate for prolonged periods on it. He did seem to learn how to press effectively, and that coincided with us improving as a team. But now he's back to lacking sharpness in defence, allowing his man to have a touch before pressing him.

But with our strengthened defence he will now be able to concentrate on all out attack, which is why there was a distinct improvement against Bury!

To suggest a player is not trying and a supporter from Earlsdon can see it but an experienced management team cannot is pretty stupid really.

The Eagles talk started after we had signed Murphy, it was just as Cole signed. We got Cole instead of Eagles, not Murphy.

Based on the cash Bury must have been offering.....My answer would be Chris Eagles.

He's obviously lazy he's a bla...sted youth player. Just like Jay Bothroyd and Leon Best before him. Bunch of lazy bastards, all of them.

You obviously want your speed merchant racing around like a headless chicken all game, because it's not like they are useful towards the end of the game with more energy. I mean it's totally coincidence we used to joke about Murphy coming good in the last 20 mins.

There is a degree of unwillingness in him as well. There was a couple of times vs Bury where balls were played into the inside right channel and he could have easily beaten their full back to the ball and been through on goal, but didn't get up to speed at all. It was quite peculiar to watch.

I'm sure he scored a worldie in that game ?

I'm sure we were linked with Eagles before this, weren't the bookies giving 1st
goal score'r odds from the start of the season. Obviously i know we hadn't
signed him, just linked enough for the bookies to believe it.

Because, of course, scoring a worldie and defending poorly are mutually exclusive.
Don't think TM bought him in for his defensive capabilities, as has been said many times
if he was the complete package, he would be well out of our range.

You defend as a team so he will still have defensive responsibilities when we're out of possession.

I like him, doesn't mean he doesn't have faults.

The system we play minimised the importance of the front 4 defensively though, that's the point.

Your DMs cover wide, you really just need the front 3 to be adding numbers to the middle and being ready to break.

We've been so crap recently because our back 6 has been disrupted so the defensive duties have fallen to the front 4 more and their shortcomings made clearer.

Tony Mowbray was really interesting, and gave quite an insight.

Said a lot about JOB, players contracts, decisions he makes, Armstong, Reda, Joe Cole etc.

It wasn't recorded, and I don't think there was any press there, so unless any snippets are put on the CCFC site then you can't.

Would you mind expanding on this if you can remember?

I enjoyed last night. Food was ok, good laugh with mowbary. Made me laugh when he called job a lunatic. Although he did say job would go mental after some games when we lost and literally had a go swearing at players when there was no need for it

I don't agreed JOB fitted with TMs method of being positive, and getting the best out of players. JOB was never wrong, never at fault, and very angry at times. Wanted to play every second of every game.
i believe the dressing room will be a better place without him, so let's see if the results show that.
Arma has a lot to do to improve, with his off the ball play, needs to watch and learn from the really world class strikers, for when he is up against quick defenders that he will be finding at a higher level.
He certainly knows his stuff, and has a real passion and love for the game. I was impressed. He does talk a lot, and in depth and honestly.
Best player he has ever worked with (question from me) Gary Pallister.

What did he have to say about contracts, Reda, Joe Cole etc - as you mentioned in your previous post? If you can remember :)
