That's what happens for these cup games as there's a large walk up due to no season tickets.

Bet it's not as bad as the queue I was in at Arsenal though :jerkit:

Imagine how much cash was pocketed tonight? No tickets handed out just a fiver handed over and go through.

How could they have got the attendence from that?

I'm sorry guys, but, I was there 45 minutes before the game and it was deserted. Why did everyone leave it to the last minute to come, why not buy tickets earlier?
You can't blame the Ricoh staff if there's only 7k sold before the game and 2k+ turn up at the last minute.

Was good to see a full-ish stand rather than 2 empty ones.

We missed first 5 mins so not too bad. Annoying though.

Maybe because they still should have the capacity to cope? Went to Arsenal this season and had to queue outside and missed the first 5-10 minutes. Was told I should have been in the ground 45 minutes beforehand. Embarrassing, got better things to do that stand in the cold.

This.

You can easily buy a ticket on the net and have it put on your ST card or have it posted to you.

This game was always going to have a decent-ish walk up.

I think the better atmosphere coincided with the Telegraph stand being closed. Might as well do it for all the home games I reckon.

So it happened at the emirates too? Maybe you should've learnt by now and arrive earlier. I got there at 20 past and was day down for 20 to.
You knew it was one stand open, knew some pay on the gate turnstiles were available, knew it was only a fiver. Did you expect to waltz up at gone half past and walk right in??

If you didnt want to queue, buy a ticket!

I think people are overreacting. Most are used to being able to turn up at 2:55 and walk straight through the gate. Tonight obviously different.
You would expect queues at most grounds in England. We're just not used to full stands.

They should have the capacity to cope if I walk up with 10 minutes till kick off yes. You may like to sit in a ground with music blaring half an hour before kick off but i'd rather have an extra pint thanks.

And with regards to Arsenal, I live in Sheffield and was working most of the afternoon so apologies if I can't arrive hours before kick off like some apparently do.

No queue when I got there at about 7:20ish, got out of the car, went to the turnstile, paid, then took residence for the game. Anyone know why they actually checked seats for this game?

This one is not the fault of the club or whoever is in charge at the ground to me.

How many of us expected a crowd of over 10,000 for the tin pot on a Tuesday night? How many expected about a quarter of them to turn up without a ticket? How many of these turned up with 10 mins or less to go?

I am one of them that normally stays for a last beer. If I miss the start it is my fault. So if it takes 10 seconds to go through when paying cash it is 6 a minute per turnstile. 10 mins only lets in 60. You would need 10 turnstiles open for cash to let in 600 every 10 mins. Over 2,000 wanted to pay cash.

I arrived (with me ST and the mrs had a pre bought ticket) at about 7:30, it was madness

huge crowds, the stewards were telling people paying cash to move down to turnstyles that were ticket only and obviosly they were getting pissed off after queuing to requeue somewhere where they had already been

the turnstyles were not marked clearly, what they were for, my mrs ran up to the front of the queue to ask if we could get in

People were still coming in 13 minutes after kick off

and to top it all, they opened up blocks 25, 26 and 27 and I could see someone in my seat

lessons need to be learnt, clearly label what gates are for, above the gate.

great to see a near full stand, sad to see the CET empty, should have just opened up all stands !!

We are still in 2nd gear I feel, lucky OG and it was only a matter of time before Blades levelled it lol, we all knew it

Great pens, great atmosphere, wembley, wembley...

I blame the guy who owns the chippy on Lythalls Lane for having no chips at 7.25 on a match night? I would have got to the ground in plenty of time if I didn't have to wait for more to cook. When we got to the ground had to wait up to 5MINS to get in... JOKE!!!

You're actually complaining because you had to queue 10 minutes before kick off time at an event which had over 10 thousand people attend, and not all ticketed. Brilliant

Whatever next? queuing in shops when buying presents on Xmas eve? Heaven forbid!

Sorry for being at work... Surely they should have had a plan in place? Instead they opened up a turnstyle and the guy ended up letting about 10 people in for free.

With them being cash and having no tickets how would they know the attendance?

I think this was the plan as the tickets were a fiver, you only got to see a portion of the game!! ;)

Was absolutely ridiculous. It wasnt even that busy for the Chelsea game a couple of years ago. In the row of turnstiles i was at, they had 2 turnstiles closed FFS. They finally opened 1 more turnstile 5 minutes after kick-off #⃣Muppets

I don't mind a queue and a wait so long as I'm in the correct queue to begin with. If they're encouraging walk-up trade they should at least aim to have their stewards pro-actively telling people where they should be queueing if they're going cash or ticket rather than stood watching a confused conga line.
