According to Mirror Football, Coventry City chairman has told striker Marlon King that he is going to be offered a deal to tempt him to stay at The Ricoh.

King's mentor, former manager Aidy Boothroyd was sacked by Ranson on Monday and immediately speculation started that King would be leaving at the end of the season.
When King was released from prison in July last year, Boothroyd offered him a way back into football, but it is unlikely that without the sacked manager that King would have signed for Coventry City, so whether he will accept any offered new contract and stay on at Coventry City remains to be seen.

King signed a one year deal with Coventry City late September 2010 and has scored seven goals, but has also missed seven games through suspension.

I know that he is not a kid and can live without Aidy but if he was the main reason he came here, he might want to go wherever Aidy goes next season?

I am glad that it looks like we are starting to offer contracts to some of our better players but I wonder about Westwood, Gunnar etc who can all leave (and probably have signed deals already)

i dont think he will sign unless RR says to him that we are definitely spending money in the summer, which probably isnt going to happen.

if i was him id want that as i would get so frustrated playing with people who were no where near the same standard

Id really like to see him stay, he's been great to watch play this season. If RR promises a decent contract and the promise of a new style of play and new influx of players during the transfer window I think he might be convinced. However, those terms seem a bit unrealistic from the club at the current time.

He might want to stay purely because the majority of CCFC fans accept him, however I hate to say I've heard it all before re this club offering contracts to our better players!

This whiffs of a bit of a PR stunt to me. Take the shine off the management for a minute, and try restore some faith in our board that they have our clubs best interests at heart.

I think it was right to sell fox and dann though because of the money involved.

I think when the dust settles he will sign.. Why not? AB may well struggle to get a job at this level for the foreseeable future so unlikely King will follow though eternally grateful to him. The only other problem would be if another club offers him a better deal than we do at the end of the season. That has a likelihood of 50/50. King can see the difference in style of play is totally different to AB already so he may like to stay and reward the fans and club for the opportunity they gave him...it wasn't all about AB.

We should try and get King on a contract with a promise that he can leave if he wants. That way we will get money for him.

I don't disagree with you but nearly a year before they were sold, new contracts were promised. Never materialised although a lot of City players complain the offers they do get are inadequate but I guess that's agent puppetry.

Fans are the only ones who understand loyalty. Having said that if a rival company offered to triple my wages, I'd be handing in my notice tomorrow morning!!!!
