Wonder if we've looked at Ben Old while checking out A-League. Seems to be very highly rated.

I’m not suggesting 3 players per position.

im suggesting 2 players per position. Left wing and right wing are not the same position.

We currently have EMC and Wright for the left and Tats / Raphael for the right.

I still think we will sign another wide right player in addition to Raphael who is clearly a calculated gamble.

Your constant critique of Doug is very odd.

We have them though

Wright
Tats
EMC
Rapha

And tavares
Tavares isn’t a winger or a wide player. He had a great impact against United because of his pace but we all know he can’t beat a man and his final delivery is that of a striker playing out of position.

I could see merit in keeping him as striker option number 4 but im sure he needs to be playing and improving to give himself a career in the game.

I’d say that’s enough. Not that I’d want to see it again but we beat Leeds, Wolves and should have beat United with one of these 4 available.
We also failed to beat Cardiff, Birm, Hull, etc etc with one of these options available.

If Simms was to be injured or suspended and Wright went through the middle you are really hoping that Borges is an unbelievable find if he has to be able to come on / start most matches.

Cant beat a man, did you watch the Utd game, he was skinning their full back left right and centre

We’ll sign another striker to replace Godden. I’m not saying we won’t/shouldn’t sign another winger (probably on loan). Not the end of the world if we don’t though.

Lol at people thinking Dougs going to allow 3 players per position
It's not having three players per position when players can cover multiple positions.

8 players to cover 4 attacking roles but having players who cover multiple positions gives us good flexibility to have a number 1,2 and 3 in every position.

Striker
1.Simms
2.Haji
3. Tav

Left wing
1. Haji
2. EMC
3. Rodriguez

Right wing
1. Sakamoto
2. Rodriguez
3. Tavares

Attacking midfield
1. Palmer replacement
2. Sakamoto
3. EMC

I've only used 7 players there, add in one more and it gives us decent options in all 4 positions.

No one knows anything about him. Heat his age has took a huge leap of faith to come here.

Let’s be really honest - I doubt many thought Sakamoto would be the player he was and his impact. With him in the team he bought the best out of O Hare and we’d have made the play offs without his injury.

So just see how it goes

Kvistgaarden out of our price range I'm afraid. Albion Rrhamani is interesting though.

It appears Celtic bid £4m last summer and it was rejected for Kvistgaarden, surely running another year of the contract down could mean it could be around that number or a little bit more and we did apparently bid £8-9m for that Argentinian who went to Benfica

Agreed.
Although he was to compliment Simms and wright not be their understudy.

He’s hardly featured at Benfica. I wonder if we would consider trying to loan him in for a season.

Celtic? What league do they play in?

I think they play in Scotland, I'm sure someone has mentioned it on here!

More than likely David O’Day… as soon as someone mentions Scottish football he appears out of nowhere

I was thinking more that if we can bid that much for the Argentinian, we can afford this Kvistgaarden who would be much lower

He's going into the u21s to start with. Makes sense with the low key announcement
No one knows yet.

He will be assessed in pre season and then I’m sure a decision will be made on where his levels are at relative to the first team squad.

Some people will know. Yeah he may well impress preseason and be involved straight away. This isn't my opinion by the way, I know nothing about him

My guess is that we have not brought him over from Oz to train with the under 23’s …. But ultimately Robins will have to decide whether the first team squad is too early for him.

I hate so many of our fans. The years of having no scouting department picking up supposed proven dross are over and I'm excited as hell. I want to pick up players that we improve building our team and club to the point we can compete. I want to see players I haven't heard of surprise and delight me. You can keep overpaid plonkers who think they are above us... It's Coventry init.

Yeah I’d guess he’s somewhere between the two squads. Not the usual youngster signing destined to stay there, but they might just think he’s got a lot of work to do first. Hopefully not and he impresses from the get go

It’s just a small % of our fans, it’s just that we have more active fans now to there are more idiots, and they’re the vocal ones. Most people will be thinking along the same lines as you

He can play off either wing, but I can't see him getting a start ahead of Wright, EMC, or Sakamoto, and no doubt we will bring other attacking midfielders/strikers in.

Having said that he's versatile so could be a great option to have on the bench, presuming he's somewhere near ready.
The odd 10 or 15 minutes hear and there off the bench, will get him up to the speed of the championship without too much pressure.

Who.knows, in a years time he could be the replacement for Sakamoto when Barcelona offer £100 million for him!

He's probably gonna be third or fourth choice in a number of positions and a bench option to help manage the minutes of the first team players. Would expect us to bring in another winger to compete with Sakamoto on the right.

Would leave us with on the wings

EMC
Haji
Sakamoto
New signing
Tavares
Rodriguez
Yeah, I think we need another winger.

Wright & EMC for the left, Saka & new guy on the right.

Raphael can be 3rd choice on either wing.

Tavares should be loaned out, he needs to be starting regularly now.

No idea, but I wouldn't rule out using EMC as an AM, he has all the attributes and an eye for goals which we've beenlacking at times.
And we'd look dangerous with wright on the left Sakamoto on the right with Sheaf and Eccles just behind EMC and Simms up top.
