Murphy-7-Not much to do, was alert at the start of the second half to make a good block save but also poor communication led to a mix up where Palace nearly scored
Clarke-8-Great defending, opponents don't come much tougher in this league for full backs than Zaha, supported the attack well with mixed crossing
Keogh-7-Was tidy in defence an used the ball well, particularly 2nd half
Cameron-6-Made a few silly mistakes tonight through lack of communication
Cranie-7-Defended well but doesn't have much of a left foot which let him down
Sheff-7-Some very good crosses into the box today
Deegan-6-Never really got on the ball much, I think this was due to first half us mainly bypassing midfield going from back to front too often
Norwood-7-Played some good and neat passes, loved the drilled ball to Baker in the second half, was fantastic technique but didn't influence the game for a sustained period of time. It was sort of the odd glimpse/good pass here and there.
Baker-7-Best game for a while, did well cutting inside and looking to play in others
Nimely-7-Was fairly quiet tonight but still played decent, I think we need to be looking to play the ball into his feet more and getting him free in space running at defences, a lot of times he was picking up the ball with his back to goal today. Think the injury he was carrying was affecting him, I would consider giving him a rest as I don't think he has been 100% for the last 3/4 games and we will need him in the run in.
Platt-6-Again think the knock he was carrying was affecting him, didn't seem to be holding up the ball as effectively as he had been and was even less mobile than usual.

Mcdonald-8-Looked lively and took his goal excellently
Clingan-7-Got on the ball a lot and started a lot of attacks, again no real telling passes though.

First half we were very poor particularly first 15, long ball to Platt was the only pass we were playing at times in the first half and the game bypassed Norwood, Deegan and most importantly our best player in Nimely who couldn't get on the end of any knock downs. Second half we were much better an got our better players on the ball with it at the feet, felt we deserved our equaliser and a draw on balance of play was a fair result.
Think we will need 3 points from the next 3 games Brum (H) Watford (A) Cardiff (A) to keep us alive.

Murphy 7
Not much to do, made a great save first half.

Clarke 8
Did very well again today coped fine against tricky wing play.

Keogh 8
Another superb performance, I don't think so people realise how quick he is!!!!

Cameron 6
He's such a big lad, but only the ball he's poor, there was many errors made, and gave silly fouls away.

Craine 6
He wasn't at his best, out of position, but again kept tricky wing play to a minimum.

Mcsheff 7
A far better performance to the one at leicester, final ball wasn't brilliant though.

Norwood 7
Decent performance, but sometimes he should just do the easy ball!! He gives the ball away a lot from long passes.

Deegan 6
Wasn't at his best at all, some awful passing, and very one footed, still offered the fight needed though.

Baker 9, his best performance this season.
Gave 100%, won tackles and beat the man at every attempt, his low crossing caused danger.
Well done bakes, big improvement!

Platt 7
Once again cause problems, he's mass strength and power worried the palace back four.
He like juke, was fouled very often, but not given.

Nimely 7.5
Once again, shown he is prem quality, lacks confidence trying the shot at times though.

Clingan 6 I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but did he look overweight!? Average performance.

Cody 8
Looked sharp, quick and won many balls in the air.
Took his goal very well and showed that he can beat a man.
Want more of this cody!

Deegan was dreadful. Just how many passes either went out of play or were nowhere near the player he was passing to?

Joe Murphy - 7 - Made some decent saves tonight
Jordan Clarke - 7 - Did well at keeping Wilfred Zaha at bay
Richard Keogh - 7 - Some decent challenges but positioning can be poor
Nathan Cameron - 5 - Poor display from Cameron, gave away the penalty and looked shaky and unfit
Martin Cranie - 5 - Not a left back, poor going forward and constantly let his man get past him, especially near the end
Carl Baker - 7 - One of his best performances of the season, needs to keep it up
Gary Deegan - 5 - Pretty poor, passing was dreadful at times and his lobbed balls were awful
Oliver Norwood - 6 - Only slightly better than Deegan but only just, poor passing
Gary McSheffery - 6 - A lot of running but no end product
Alex Nimely - 7 - Not given enough time on the ball and found it hard to cope with the physicality of Anthony Gardner
Clive Platt - 7- Struggled to win as much in the air but played some nice lay-offs, should have score in the first half

Subs
Sammy Clingan - 5 - Passing and vision is spectacularly awful, would much rather have seen Thomas on
Cody McDonald - 7 - Showed some pace and off the ball movement was fantastic, if only we had the players to spot him. Took his goal very well.
Cyrus Christie - N/A - Wasn't on long enough to justify a score

Andy Thorn - 6
MotM - Carl Baker, just

Baker redeemed himself tonight, good performance.
Sammy thought he was poor, agree with Skyblue, Thomas for me
MacDonald he is a goal scorer :)
Cyrus did not get long, but long enough to put in a testing whipped cross
Cameron some bad touches, but he kept his nerve & was much more settled by the end

Referee - 1/10 so bloody inconsistant

sideways sammy, not worth his appearance,
referee way out of his depth, 0/10,
90% of the lads put in a good shift,
PUSB
a more competent official & we'd have 3 pts

I dsagree about the ref. I thought he was generally awful but he did get the big decisions right imo.

It was definitely a penalty (stupid challenge), we had some half-hearted penalty shouts expecting him to even it up but there is no right to expect that, the one sheffers put away was off-side, their quick free-kick was fine and we should have been alert.

I wasn't sure if it was a penalty or not before Cody scored but regardless he either didn't see it as one or played a good advantage unlike the last time that happened and it was pulled back for a penalty.

He was annoying in the niggly stuff of yellow cards, time wasting, ball positioning, rolling ball etc ehich could have cost us but didnt and I don't think he affected the result.

Murphy 7 - his brilliant save from the quick free kick kept us in the game

Clarke 7 - Did well defensively against Zaha, got stuck in, confident on the ball
Keogh 8 - One of the two quality players we have, classy and authorititive
Cameron 4 - So indecisive when the ball is in the air, has 50p head, half baked still.
Cranie 6 - Did ok other than his distribution

McSheffrey 8 - Our other player with real quality, needs to play up top, off the shoulder
Norwood 6 - Passing needs to have more insicion, too many cross field "Champagne balls"
Deegan 5 - Passing was woeful
Baker 7 - Lots of endeavor, good direct running and cutting inside 2nd half

Platt 6 - got sucked into a wrestling match with their centre half, should of scored
Nimely 7 - needed to run at them through the middle more, carrying a knock still?

Clingan 5 - Gave the ball away cheaply, looked overweight
McDonald 8 - Looked sharp, won & held the ball up surprisingly well. Good finish too

MOM - Keogh (again!)

dont know if i am being pessemistic but i would not give anyone over a 6 last night. we were shocking last night, Keogh was our best player by far but even he did not have a great game.

Sammy was good for the 30 odd minutes he played. Some of you lads do the player ratings before the match. Just because you prefer Thomas does not mean you need to find fault where there was none. Sammy moved the ball swiftly and found his man every time, except once when his pass was intercepted. Many of his passes were forward or diagonals to McSheff or Baker. Next time try watching instead of waiting for a mistake to whine about. Norwood and Deegan both had a mixed game. Both gave the ball away many times. Try doing a count instead of mere impression determined by pre-conceived idea. Rant over.
Keogh was very good but not MOM, that was probably Baker, who had his best game for a while.
