Allsop-6. Couldn't do anything about the goal, made several reasonable saves. Kicking wasn't great.
Pennington-7. Did some really good stuff along with a couple of errors. Looks better quality than this side.
Martin-5. Slow and with poor positioning and marking. The middle of the defence was carved apart at will by Fleetwood in the first half.
Webster-3. See Martin, plus a dopey OG to boot.
Haynes-5. As others have noted, doesn't seem to want to take his man on any more and often checked back or crossed early. Poor defensively at times, but kept trying and at least offered a couple of decent over-laps.
O'Brien-5. Worked tirelessly but touch and distribution was poor whenever he got the ball. Was playing in a ridiculous non-position between RM and CM before Jackson came on.
Barton-6.5. You can't pick Barton and Fleck in the same side: it's too lightweight for CM and they both want to come deep and dictate tempo. Both were guilty of giving it away in silly areas and sapping our game of tempo in the first half-no doubt under instructions. Did improve significantly in the second half and started to drive our play forwards and spread the ball much quicker-so he can do it! Good cross for the goal.
Fleck-4. See above for Barton. Did get a bit better and played a couple of better passes but was terribly wasteful in general. Has gone backwards. Thornton-esque disintegration. Shocking moment second half where he was simply brushed off the ball. He's sooooo sloooooow, too. Seeing out his contract? Will never get dropped due to Paul Telfer Syndrome: the manager seems to see him as indispensable.
McQuoid-5. Had a couple of shots, at least. But looked lost out wide and didn't get nearly close enough to Madine for the most part. Classic case of a player not being used properly by the manager. Works quite hard but is shocking technically.
Swanson-5. I do think that there's a player in there somewhere, but he doesn't look fully fit and he is easily knocked off the ball. Looks frustrated-nothing really came off for him yesterday, but he does have a bit of flair. LW not his best position, but tough, there's no-one else, really.
Madine-6. Had a thankless task as the lone man up front and was incredibly isolated until first Maddison and then Jackson came on. Starved of decent service and generally had two CB's on him for the first 75 minutes. But kept battling away and the knock-down for the equaliser was perfect. Needs some support and service!
Maddison-8. Wow, this kid has some serious ability. Showed up his senior team-mates with his touch, vision, flair and movement. Got closer to Madine than any of the other midfielders by occupying the "hole" and moved inside intelligently when switched to the wing after Jackson came on. Showed savvy to win free-kicks and could have scored. Taking so many set-pieces shows the esteem he is held in. The touch to trap that sky-ball that came down with snow on it was probably the best technical piece of football on show all day.
Jackson-7. Striker!!! Two up front made a huge difference and Jackson immediately gelled and had an understanding with Madine. Looks like a proper old fashioned little-and-large partnership to me. The most under-achieving player in our squad, but he really looked like he wanted it yesterday and was very sharp. Time for him to turn around his Sky Blues career and show his quality. Should be getting 15-20 goals a season in this division.
