What do you mean? Palmer has 4 goals and 3 assists in around 35 games for Coventry.

O'Hare has 12 goals and 26 assists in 146.

It's hardly a huge difference, especially with goals.
O'Hare got 3 assists in 11 games last season

In the championship

O'Hare has 8 goals and 19 assists in 102 games. A goal contribution every 3.7 games

Palmer has 3 goals and 2 assists in 33 games. A goal contribution every 6.6 games.

O'Hare is one of the best players outside the Premier League though.

Palmer and O'Hare looked good together and the one or two times they were on the same pitch last season.

Didnt palmer have to play as the only striker the one time they did

No one has said this or anything close. You sure you don't just massively fancy him and you can't process those feelings? Overcompensating?

Strange

That was the only game they started together I believe.

There were one or two others where Palmer came on as a sub and it looked like O'Hare finally had someone on his wavelength.

Which actually contributed one of his goals.

Although he didn't actually look too bad there I thought, so I guess there's the fourth option come injuries.

We clearly need O’Hare back but I’d be interested to know what much you think Palmer could have improved on today.

It’s nothing to do with improvement - o hare can help to occupy the space in the middle of the pitch when the opposition press and suck them into our middle pairing

He can’t and now also we have Eccles and no hamer

Sheaf is now a one man midfield and we are cut open at will

Agree. It’s not just having an effective partner for Sheaf. It’s about having the dynamic sort of presence that Hamer offered.

Well with no O’Hare or Allen for a while yet I’m not sure what you expect us to do about it. I would say again that Palmer didn’t do much wrong today…

I would assume part of his job is to do the same

Also you could mirror Watfords second goal to Palmer and his run through the defence - well with one significant difference

Yep his finishing is often too soft. Though really when he laid off Godden he should have gone for goal himself.

Oh and Sakatomo is as much a RWB as Oggy

A neutral mate thought Palmer was our best player, trying to create things.

yes he does try and create things but no one would say he was better then Wright even from that perspective

Prob cos he neutral and downs thave hate for him.

He was prob 2nd best player after wright.

Sheaf had to hold the whole midfield together

It was a chaotic game by Robins standards - it won’t be happening again

Some good, some bad, some ugly… a little different to last week as I thought Wilson and back 3 had the run around all afternoon but both WB’s vastly better. Today probably shows the folly of not investing in a CM as Eccles was poor today in my view and the bench didn’t have the right option. Forward play much better and effective than v Sunderland.

Wilson 6, kicking and pass outs questionable at times
Lati 6
Fadz 6, just
Thomas 5
MVE 8, and my MoM
JDS 7,
Sheaf 8, and a good job as,
Eccles 4, and rightly booked for another stupid dive
Palmer 7, nothing quite came off
Godden 6, cracking goal though
Wright 7, menace all game
Bidwell 5; Ayari 6; Saka 5 not a WB for me; Ellis N/A

Crowd much more engaged than last week and atmosphere much better 7.5/10. Ref had a reasonable game I thought 7/10
