here are mine, let us know yours

burge 5 - didnt have much to do for majority of game but cost us a big goal when he got stuck in no mans land. few minutes later almost made a huge blunder too. a couple of good saves though and important punches near the end

willis - 8 - very impressive i felt, handles his tricky winger well and won almost everything that came his way. didnt do much in attacking sense but got a few ok crosses in

clarke 8 - no nonsense.seemed to win every header

rawson 9 - same as clarke but seemed to be everywhere last night. best i have seen him

haynes - 4 - cant mark, cant tackle and hes no winger as hes so lightweight. only does well when away from opposition players and has some space.

reilly - 6 - best performance under robins. showed alot of fight.

bigi - 6 - a much better 2nd half earned him s extra point in my book. was winning headers and making important tackles at death. what goes against bigi is when he makes a bad pass they look monumentally bad lol, i have to laugh sometimes. but i think many miss the fact that he keeps trying and alot of time they come off, made a sublime forward pass in lead up to beavens shot just wide minutes after second half kicked off.

reid - 9 - best game ive ever seeen him. was taking on 3 or 4 players at a time second half and retaining the ball. maybe some of it was luck but he was on it all night. also worked hard defensivly and that goal..wow. also helped in lead up to all important second goal. MOTM

Beavon - 7 - another hard working effort from ever reliable beavon. links up well with rest of forward line and important to the team.

g thomas - 8 - what i like about george now is he no longer hiding. he wants the ball alot even if he knows hes gonna get kicked from behind as he recieves it, i dont think he always put himself in that position earlier in season or last season. also amount of interceptions he has in final minutes shows that he does have some fitness unlike others. needs to work on finishing but another player i want to keep for next season.

k thomas 6 - great finish for goal and works hard. needs to work on his heading and hold up play for sure though!

subs

no ratings for stokes or jones as onyl had less than 5 minutes each i think. both did their job. one bad pass from jodi but other than that he beat his man and got ball in corner and retained it. stokes did what little was asked of him defensively.

overall a good display vs poor team, alot like vs gills. but i dont think league 1 is full of good teams,we have jsut been uber bad. so bring on bristol and lets go to wembley with some momentum!

Your point about Bigi is spot on. Players who get involved will make the odd mistake, whereas players who hide never make mistakes.
Unfortunately a lot of supporters only see mistakes.
Don't agree with 6 for Kwame. I thought he challenged for everything apart from the odd occasion when he obviously thought the reward was too small for the risk. He didn't win every challenge but he pressured defenders into not doing what they wanted to do.

Burge 4. The marking down is for the two mistakes. One very costly and the second, a poor handling error.

Willis 7. Very, very steady.

Clarke 8. Best game I have seen him play. Got stuck in, made many great tackles and some important headers too.

Rawson 9. I thought he was magnificent. Fought and battled for every ball and pretty much came out on top every time. MOTM for me.

Haynes 5. Looked okay coming forwards on a couple of occasions, but pushed off the ball far too easily and defensively suspect yet again.

Thomas G 7. Worked his socks off. Some nice interplay too. He just seems to lack that killer instinct in front of goal. He really should be scoring a lot more regularly than he does.

Bigi 6. Awful in the first half, but battled well in the second and never stopped trying all game. Just keep him away from free kicks from now on.

Needs to cut out the silly errors.

Reilly 7. Another who battled and chased down everything. Not much creative play for the lad, but for busting a gut and getting stuck in I think he deserves a better than average mark.

Reid 7. Yeah, 7. 10 for the first half where he was unstoppable, but second half he almost completely disappeared and offered next to nothing. Could be of course that he was just spent and knackered.

Beavon 7. Never stopped running. Set up the first goal and nearly had a second in the second half.

Thomas K 6. That's 5 for the goal and the other 1 is for the rest of his contribution to the game. I really thought he was dreadful. All arms and legs. Hardly won a header and the ball was bouncing of his shins and he barely controlled the ball once in the entire 90 mins.

A small defence of Burge's handlig error.
I was right in line and the cross took a slight deflection (off Reid I think but can't exactly recall) so it probably had some spin on it

And again in defence of Kwame; he did win some balls but the important thing is he challenged and compromised the defender. If you don't challenge they get a free header which they can direct to one of their own.

I'd agree with these ratings.
Burge error prone and certainly at fault for goal. I think the other blunder can be partly explained by the cross being partly blocked by Haynes taking a deflection and ball spinning wildly. Still I would expect a professional keeper to handle it comfortably.
Most important thing for me last night was you could see confidence seeping back into the side and the belief that they could and would win. All the players fought well and actually worked for each other. Reid, not a defender by any means, tracked back and helped out Haynes.
For once the defence looked quite strong and comfortable.

Reid won us that game. Not just the goal, but the way he started helped players whose confidence was in minus figures actually start trying to play football again rather than be the petrified shells of the last few games. It was a bit like that Peterborough game where O'Brien came in for the second half all guns blazing and suddenly everyone else woke up.

Yep. He badly ran out of steam in that second half though.

Shame, because we would gave totally whooped them if he had continued what he gave in that first 45 mins.

i wouldnt say he badly ran out of steam 2nd half. maybe the last 10 mins he was on pitch. he started 2nd half running at defence againa nd like aj said he was helping out haynes loads

he had a great game. sorry that pisses you and others off. weird.

Doesn't piss me off at all. Delighted he played well. Just narked that he hasn't shown that previously for us.

He's been very poor all season, but then suddenly last night he starts playing like Arjen Robben just before team selection for the cup final.

That's the only thing that is weird.

your acting like hes done it on purpose.

and players like haynes who are shit before and after robins(so far) seem to get a free ride with you.

same as the bigi situation, some fans reward those that hide.

I have never rated Haynes. Have given him plenty of stick.

When we signed Reid I was delighted as the player we got last night is the one I was expecting, I can't remember when but he looked like that when playing against us one game too.

Players respond differently to managers. The whole team improved last night in skill, ambition and commitment; down to Wembley or to Robins? Who knows time will tell. It did annoy me on here last night that some who have not hid their dislike of Reid as a player because in their words he was rubbish indicated that they disliked him more because he was having a good game. Can't please some people. Same with Bigi...not the best player on the planet but never hides when the going gets tough. Clearly some of our so called fans much prefer to have a dig at their own players rather than encourage and give praise wher it's due.

Re Rawson, I'm interested to know - was he more physical than both he and Turnbull have been previously (most of the season)? Ie. grappling more with the strikers, getting in front of them for challenges etc?

I agree, some players do respond differently to different managers. Let's hope that is the case here, because we have got him for another year haven't we?

We all have formed opinions on players, those we rate and those we don't, but I would hope that we all are happy when a player proves us wrong. I know I am.

I don't rate Lameiras, Reid, Haynes (not as a fullback anyway), Turnbull, but there is no-one happier than me when they play well. They are City players, I want them to play well.

Problem with Reid is we have seen nothing of him all season. If he had played like that 7 or 8 times maybe we wouldn't be in this mess.

As fans we all like consistency don't we? Not expecting him to play like that every game, but once in every 4 or 5 matches is not a lot to ask for is it?

He did play like that (albeit without the same end result) a couple of times for Mowbray and a couple times for Venus. Under slade, for whatever reason, he didn't seem to perform at all.

Encourage and give praise where it's due? We're about to get relegated in last place from League 1 and he is one of the senior pros in our squad, who by your own admission has played to his potential on about 5 occasions this year. It's an absolutely myopic view of the season to expect fans to be praising Kyel Reid for turning up, for the 5th time this year, with 7 league games of a 46 games season to go.There is absolutely no praise due and fans have every right to be pissed off with that.

Anyway. I'd love to stay and chat but the guy that keeps me locked in his bondage basement, doing terrible things to me every day, has just let me take my gimp mask off and have a cup of tea and a jaffa cake, so I need to go and say thank you to him.

thats not what anyone is saying though. no one is saying praise reid.

what we are saying is dont single out 1 player who did better than the other failures for even more criticism,as that makes no sense. no one has been amazing this season for us so not sure reid should be singled out as a big underperformer.

Yes we are about to be relegated and the team, managers and owners have rightly been criticised for their part throughout the season. However last night saw a marked improvement throughout; a defence that looked reasonably solid, a midfield that both broke up attacks and set our attack on its way and a forward line that looked like it had goals in it. And in Reid we had a player who for 60mins was on fire.
My point is that when the players have let ccfc and us the fans down we criticise. When they don't (as last night) we should encourage and praise.

Wouldn't say he ran out of steam badly. Was ready to come off when he did but I'd say our best (and probably only real) chances in the second half came from or involved him. Barring the K.Thomas 1 on 1 at the end (which he should of done much better with)!

Burge. 5. Would of been a 4 had he not of made the save that was drilled into the floor and was heading for the top corner. Other than that had little to do and wasn't convincing in what he did do. Indecisive is an understatement.

Willis. 6. Was disappointed to see him in the starting 11, but only because it meant DKE lost out. Done ok though, coped with their left winger ok. Marked him down from a 7 as him and K.Thomas had doubled up on their goalscorer yet he still beat them both and lobbed burge. Burge and Clarke put him under needless pressure a few times with passes whilst marked but he recovered well.

Clarke. 7. Helped keep their 6'5" striker quiet for 90mins. As soon as I seen him I thought we'd be done on every set piece. Fought hard and played well.

Rawson. 7. Pretty much same as above, done the basics well.

Haynes. 5.5. Got forward well (loves a Ronaldo chop), created a couple of chances but is as guilty (if not more so) as everybody at this club, gets into a great position and then the final ball is shocking. Nobody ever drills a low cross in and loop it over everybody and out for a throw!

G.Thomas. 7.5. Worked hard all night and made some good interceptions. Linked well with Beavon at times.

Bigi. 6. Chased well off the ball but (1st half especially) wasn't great with it. Needs to be taken off of free kick duty immediately.

Rielly. 7. One of the best performances I've seen from him. Fought well to win 2nd balls.

Reid. 8.5. Died off towards the end but can't be blamed for match fitness as he's been bit part all season. This performance was the reason he was bought in by Mowbray. Had their RB in his pocket from the 1st attack. MOTM

K.Thomas. 6. Tried to hold up the ball and linked well with Beavon at times. Made a nuisance of himself and constantly put defenders under pressure. Marked down like Willis for poor defending for their goal.

Beavon. 7. Looked lively. Almost like he's fit. Has looked tired last few weeks. Good shot which lead to our second. Other than that he linked well with the other forwards and was always looking for the ball. Never hides.
