It seemed in the first half we were doing all the hard things right, cross field balls, pressing high up the pitch, winning 50/50s but then misplacing the easier passes and efforts in and around the box.
Maatsen and Dabo just couldn't control Hamers pinged cross field pin point 49 yard passes.

It's the endless opportunities he and Dabo have that's my issue. Seems like they always end up in good positions but rarely capitalise.

I do wonder how much culpability the forwards have here, there’s very little to aim at TBF to the wide players.

the game plan is to hit the wing backs though.

Yeah but once they’ve got it I don’t think players make the right moves in the box. Don’t get me wrong delivery can be too poor, but equally they’re too often asked to pick out one guy in a crowd.

Yeah, there is definitely an element of that. It's why I'm susprised we try keep pumping the ball our wide

don't disagree with that but Robins clearly wants players that can hug the touchline and have good control. You're questioning what comes next and I think you've got a point, particularly where Dabos concerned.

Kane was immense when he came on.

Was genuinely astounded how well Kane played today.

Take a bow son.

Last year we were desperate for Godden and Walker now there's question marks ovr them.
Last year Dabo was undroppable now his place is in question and we have a potential replacement, this is progress.

Second half we went to a back four with Sheaf in front of the four so vertically 4-3-2 it worked & nullified Bristols extra man, possibly gives Robins options/ideas going forward 5-3-2 or 4-4-2 with O’Hare at number ten giving us an extra body in the middle of the park even 4-3-3.

Kane 8 did enough to earn a run
Walker 8 terrible decision not to pass to O'Hare but great apart from that
Forum 4 maybe it's time to run two game threads. 1 for positives and one for whiners?

As like all our matches, its a game of 2 halfs.

Honestly it felt like 2 different games. Exhausted!

It was unfortunate the shot didn’t go in but he’s got more pace than the other forwards - just not going to ever be popular here though

Yeah, it very close as well. I’m sure with hindsight Robins wishes he’d given him longer against Swansea..he definitely would’ve stretched them more at the back. Having said that it’s down to Walker to deliver yesterdays level of performance consistently when given the chance. I think it was one of the best games I’ve seen him play for us, same as Sheaf

The shot was off target. I haven't been a fan of Walker but apart from that brain fart he was great yesterday

Moore 6
Rose 6
McFadzean 6
JCS 6
Dabo 6
Hamer 7
Sheaf 8
Maatsen 4
CoH 8
Gyökeres 6
Godden 8

Kane 8
Walker 7
Kelly 7

Thought Kane was excellent, we look so much better on that side with him there, his first cross was an absolute peach, just a shame no one could get on the end of it. He needs his chance ahead of Dabo now.

Thought Sheaf was excellent too, but it's a typical Sheaf display where he plays fantastic then gets caught dawdling on the ball, that sliding tackle towards the end of the game as Bristol were breaking on the counter was absolutely superb.

Godden with 2 excellent finishes, he seems fitter and faster then what he was in League one. Didn't think he had it in him to be any more then a bit part player, but he must be one of the first on the team sheet currently.

Watching Walker and seeing his pace made it even more baffling that Robins didn't put him on early against Swansea. I reckon he'd have had a field day in behind their high line.

Walkers also got good movement in the box. There was one ball in from Dabo where he would’ve nodded it in at the front post if the defender hadn’t got the slightest touch on it. There was another one that Ohare chipped in where I thought he could have been a bit braver against the keeper but he was in the right area. Also see his movement to the near post for the goal against Blackburn.

He was also in a great position if Godden's winner had deflected or hit the post
