Burton had two very good wingers and concentrated there attacks down the flanks, they gave Ricketts and Stokes problems but both acquitted themselves very well defensively.

Burge 5
Ricketts 6
Johnson 5 (far too much over commitment which better opposition would punish)
Martin 7
Stokes 7
JOB 7
Vincelot 7
Fleck 8 (behind all our best moves yet nearly blotted his copybook at the end)
Tudgay 8 (MoM but should have blasted the chance he had)
Lameiras 6 (better second half but missing Maddison I think)
Murphy 8 (what mugs were calling him lazy? Worked his bollocks off again and took the pressure off a few times)

Martin seems to get a bad rap on here but I like him. Played well today. Great for a squad player also. Can't moan at that.

His own goal wasn't great tbf. It didn't seem that hard to clear. But on the whole a brilliant display by the back four. Reda was a giant again. Yes he makes stupid daft runs and loses the ball but that's the player. We know this. He is exciting. He is different. My favorite Cov player.

I'm baffled by anyone being baffled by any player getting a 7 when we have won away from home, pretty standard score I should think, apart from burgerfingers of course.

Baffling

i'm baffled about everyone giving Stokes 7's! he didnt get close enough to stop the cross for the first and gave the ball away many times today. Their Wingers kept swapping and were giving him a torrid time

Can't see the torrid time holds any credence at all and I thought he acquitted himself well.

Just arrived home. Not watched on sky yet

For me two mom. Vincelot and Tudgay

Thought JOB kept giving the ball away and Burge was a "Potential accident awaiting to happen"

Still 3 points and up to 2nd

PUSB and great day out.

Thought Martin slotted in really well

Haha that's cheeky.
Personally I thought that was Stokes least accomplished performance this season.....
and I really rate him.
Lameiras Is another favourite of mine and again only seems log six's majority of time,it was his work down the left that gave Murphy the simple assist on the first goal,oh well.

I think I watched different game to most on here. Stokes for me was getting beaten time and time again in the first half. Better attacking players would have made us pay! Lameiras was skinning their players time and time again in the second half, and opened their defence a few times to create us chances. Sadly whenever he did there was little support and the move died.

Burge - 4 lucky their strikers didn't get near any of his fumbles
Ricketts - 6 not his best game, but out of position
Martin - 7 recovered well from the own goal and was solid
Johnson - 6 solid game but left us exposed a few times when he went wandering
Stokes - 5 improved a little second half, but was nowhere near their winger most of first half
Fleck - 7 good solid game, got a bit of a temper on him which could cost us if he's not careful. Lucky not to get booked earlier than he did
Vincelot - 9 had a great game. Solid throughout
Murphy - 8 moments of brilliance but went missing at times. Always looked a threat when running at their defence.
Lameiras - 9 tore them apart, but lacked the support up front to make it count
JOB - 8 never stopped fighting, great solid game
Tudgay - 8 worked his socks off. But needs better support around him. Should've scored near the end which would've saved my near heart attack.

Don't think the sub's had enough time to get a rating.

Surprised by the amount 9's? It was a great win but no one played that well, the best player on the pitch was Duffy.

I think Lameiras did his part for the goal, then a pass in the second half and taking the player on in the second half but was quiet.
JOB was quite anonymous.

Burton wingers are their main threat and have caused teams problems. I think we coped quite well and Stokes and Rickets still got forward on occasions. I thought Stokes had a good game.

Yep, totally agree. JOB's quietest game for some time and though Lameiras played much better second half, in the first half he was knocked off the ball and offered very little at all.

I don't get the 9's either. We ground out the victory and they were nearly all solid performances and hardly anyone was brilliant.

I had Murphy as our best player on an 8, but couldn't mark anyone else as high,

I'd like to rate them a little differently if I may?

Block 1 (Defence)

In the past if Martin and Burge had been making those kind of mistakes we would not have won the game. Now we have a mature defence that support each other. Reda was a rock and Ricketts was constantly patting the defence on the back. Mistakes willh happen and Burge will learn especially as he has people who will support him.

Block 2 (midfield)

Excellent defending. Still need to improve their passing because too many times they were passing to the opposition, but then again so were the opposition. Good going forward but their through balls I felt were aimed at Armstrong who wasn't there. What I mean by that was they over-passed on too many occasions. I also can understand TM frustration with O'Brien. He could be our best player IF he kept to his position and didn't try to be like a bloody jack russell and chase after the ball.

Block 3 (Attack)

Did well with a very mature attitude. They used the spaces well and passing was good. What I liked most was they were making the most oftheir abilities. Too many times in the past City would pump the ball forward even though the forwards were 5' 6'' tall or they would play with pace even though the forwards were 35 years old and needed a zimmer frame to get around the park. We ran when we had to. We passed when we had to. We didn't do anything spectacular just did what we could do and did it well.

But what does that mean, Simon? Didn't Billy Daniels have people who supported him? What about Mark Noon? Robert Betts? Andrew Whing? Don't all players get support? How does supporting someone make them a better player?

The only thing Burge can learn from yesterday is that if he can't catch the ball he needs to punch the bleedin thing.

Vincelot did a lot better in the second half but his passing at the start of the game was awful, gave the ball away far to easily in dangerous areas. I respect his commitment just hope his range gets a bit better.

Yep, he did start off very sloppy with his passing. He grew in stature as the game wore on.

Was not confident before the game but we controlled most of the match without being in top form.

I think the difference between this season and last under Pressley is that Mowbray understands what he is doing, how to achieve it and how to change things if necessary...... that in turns feeds in to all the players knowing clearly what is required of them and importantly all buying in to it....... which means when other players have to come in they are able to give their best and are helped by the players around them. The lads all worked hard, were well organised and generally did the simple things well....... were a team

Don't think anyone deserved more than a 7 and would have to mark Burge down to a 5 because he dropped those crosses

MOM for me Vincelot
other stand outs were Fleck, Tudgay, Stokes, Murphy

A deserved win and excellent support from the SBA

Well done all
PUSB!

If that is the case why do we win most games he plays in ??

The guy is awesome scaring the opposition with his physical and tactical presence

Thought Murphy put a great shift in, Tudgay did really well upfront on his own, Reda is clearly a big player for us. The lads are having a right go but it's a long old winter ahead, we will need more quality and cover in if we are gonna challenge for promotion. And probably a better keeper.

Thought JOB kept giving the ball away.

Yeah, this. Surprised no one else picked up on this, especially when we're having a go at Tudgay for trying to 'dink' the keeper for a potential 3rd (which pee'd me off as I had money on us to win 3-1). Great firs touch though by Tudgay for the goal. Sat it up nicely for him to finish it off.

I thought JOB was quite wasteful in position yesterday. I don't get to many games but those I've seen, you can't fault how industrious he is. Same again yesterday but I think we were lucky not to get punished on the break from him giving the ball away. Happened a few times.

one thing i notice this season , is that whenever the opposition look like getting a shot away you always get 2 or 3 bodies coming from nowhere to throw themselves in front of it

This is massively protecting Burge, and one of the reasons we are whre we are

Agree with that. Not sure why Martin gets low scores as he had no chance with the own goal. I thought Stokes was excellent too. He's constantly improving for me.

Burge 5
Ricketts 7
Martin 7 (unlucky for the own goal, defended solidly)
Reda 8
stokes 7
Vincelot 8
Fleck 9
Lamieres 7
Job 7
Murphy 7
Tudguy 8
