Burge, 7 - getting a lot of hate for the goal, which I think is harsh. He came out and missed the cross - but JCH let his man have a free header and as Esoterica pointed out, the overall organisation at set piece was amiss. Made a v good save to keep it 2-1.
Grimmer, 6 - looked a bit sloppy early on defensively and his crossing was off too.
Hyam, 7 - solid defender and did a good job keeping Luton at bay for most of the game.
McDonald, 7 - bar mess that was the organising of defensive set piece - he defended well, cleared his lines etc.
Haynes, 7.5 - to quote my neutral friend who was at the game, he was ‘our only outlet’. His turn for the first goal was really good. Guilty of letting Collins (I think) clear for Burge’s save and I was annoyed he missed kicked that chance at the death. He receives too much stick also.
Vincenti, 7 - played well, and took his chance well. Some of his clearances turned into counter attacks and I thought his link up play was good.
Bayliss, 6 - I weren’t really impressed with him, his passing was decent but I think he just looks tired. Is probably in need of a rest.
Doyle, 8 - does so much unnoticed work, fights for every ball, his passing was good, proper captain’s performance.
Shipley, 6 - was a bit wasteful on the ball and passed on opportunities to put Luton under pressure.
McNulty, 7 - well took free kick, probably should’ve done better with his chances, and linked up well with JCH. They’ve formed a good partnership there.
JCH, 7 - I enjoy the way he plays the game. He’s aggressive, has a high work rate and he won a lot of aerial challenges. He did let his man go for their 1st, but, I don’t know why he was marking their most dominant aerial threat. Thought his header at the end was just out of his reach. Deserved a goal.
Robins, 7 - first half went perfectly. On the whole, we probably deserved the 3pts but a draw isn’t unfair. Their 1st goal came at a bad time for us. Their set piece was so good, we couldn’t risk giving away fouls in our half, hence we stood off them. It felt like a loss, but a draw is a good result.
I feel the difference between us and Luton, is their set piece. They scored twice from set piece (one was offside) from nowhere in a game they didn’t create as good opportunities as us. We need more set piece goals going into next season.
