IIRC the last time we finished 8th was our first season at the Ricoh in the championship. What happened next? I think the club finally fell of that cliff it had been driving towards since relegation from the premier league. We almost went into admin and I guess SISU turned up. How does any of that correlate to finishing 8th this season in league one while not staring administration in the face? Educate the masses oh wise one.

We did. We signed hoards of players in that close season and spent £2 million on mcsheffreys two replacements. They just weren't very good.

According to Steve Bruce we sold him for £2 million and replaced him with Kyle and Mckenzie. Some pundits suggest it was nearer £3.5 million. In addition we signed a host of other players including Elliot Ward for over £1 million plus substantial wages. We also put Michael Doyle on a huge contract as our highest earner - around £15,000 a week.

Our net spend was hugely negative and our wage bill was soaring. Losses were increasing as our owners "invested"

We ended up with a first team squad that season of over 30 professionals

However, according to you these facts are irrelevant as the club finished 8th and it's progress so again - what's your point.

That 8th place finish was progress on the previous season. The following season we went backwards.

This season has ended as a disaster, we should have at the very least made the playoffs, I don't see it as progress I see it as a complete Fuck up by Tony and the boys.

I made the point in post #69. The club had fallen of a cliff, it was a car crash, the wheels had come off.

You seem to think the wage bill is some sort of measurement of success. Try telling Bolton fans that. Sometimes when a club is crashing nothing can stop that. Bolton are a prime example as I suspect Newcastle are also about to be.

We could of course have a discussion why with over 20,000 fans and only paying wages average in the league we were a car crash I suppose.
