I wouldn't be disapointed with Curle, but then again I would not be inspired. I think he is a solid but not bold choice and I think a bold choice is what we need.
I think we need to make another statement with this appointment, hopefully (and maybe naively) I do not think that we can slip any lower (As a result of on pitch matters) so maybe now is the time to take a gamble on someone, like Swindon did with Di Canio. It has been made clear with Robins vs Thorn that the players clearly respond well to a stricter boss and one who knows how to make pro-active substitutions.
I believe we should go for someone like Wise or someone of that ilk, who is an authoritarian but who also has a bit of flair and personality about them to inspire the players and also the fans.

If Keith Curle is not good enough for Notts County, what makes anyone think he's good enough for Coventry City? No for me, bit of a hoof ball merchant as well.

Who would? Di Canio? The man who took Swindon from League 2 to the top of League 1 in 18 months.

With an alleged £12m in terms of investment.. and that's the point in terms of CCFC isn't it.. yes he's a character and a good manager; and personally I think he would be good for us- raise our profile and spirits... but he wont come because we wont invest in the team as he would demand and if he clashed with the Swindon owners imagine how he would get along with SISU- its an impossible marriage surely?

Agree. Not saying he is right for us or even realistic, just that if he was appointed it would be footballing reasons not a publicity stunt.

Wondering what people would think of Paul Jewell as manager...has he been mentioned? He has been out of football a while is he still interested?

Tisdale who has no experience managing a club bigger than Exeter, where his record is distinctly average? No thanks. I'd like to see us try and pull all the stops to try and poach Howe from Bournemouth, but even there his record at Burnley serves as a caveat.

His record at Exeter is not distinctly average. They were a midtable BSP club when he took over. He took them up in consecutive seasons to L1 with one of the lowest budgets in L2, keeping the same side intact, and then went on to challenge for a playoff place in L1! They are still a small L2 club but he has them back challenging for promotion again. He has had no money to spend, is fantastic at organising a team and improving players and is far and away the best candidate. If you want a man with a record in the lower divisions comparable to Robins, Tisdale is the man.

No experience at the higher level? So in that case O'Neill should still be managing Wycombe? Fergie should still be at St. Mirren? Guardiola should have stuck with the Barca Youth side?

As for Howe-he left a CHAMPIONSHIP club to go back to the club that he adores. They actually spent money signing players in the transfer window. Bournemouth are now a bigger club than us, and Howe wouldn't leave them for us if we were mid-table in the division above with money to burn!

He's failed pretty abysmally in his last few jobs. I can't remember anything positive he's done since Wigan?

Dennis Wise pllleeeeeaaaasssseeee.

We have a situation where our players are scared to play at the Ricoh because of the shitty hostile atmosphere, and we need a man in charge who exudes confidence. It also helps that the guy is loved by City fans.

Step forward Dennis Wise.

Is it a "shitty hostile atmosphere"? Who said & on what measures? Are the players scared? Where has this been stated & by who? Or is that your opinion?

all of these were very defensive minded players which i feel lead to defensive play/tactics.

black
robins
dowie (win 34.88% with us)

all 3 were strikers as players and were attacking minded/tactics and we were better for it. ok dowie wasnt a massive success but was given empty promises.

but look at all our managers over the years and our best one was a striker

i hope we dont go down the defensive route again

Poyet wasnt with Wise, when Wise got Millwall to the FA Cup final.

Correct. The only issue with him is length of time away from the game.

True, but even if he had been living as a hermit in a cave in Outer Mongolia for twenty years, he would still have come back with more knowledge than Thorn...so in CCFC terms that makes him a possible target!

If it been in exile on devils island for a quarter of a century he still would do better than thorn.

Wise would be another manager who would be off at the first chance

Left Leeds at the top of this league to take up that stupid role at Newcastle

We don't know who the candidates are. Every name mentioned is speculation from a fan or the bookies...so don't get despondent.

I said so - my opinion. Away teams love coming to the Ricoh as the fans aren't loud due to having 10,000 spread out in a 32,000 seater stadium.

I thought the crap atmosphere was accepted by all as a fact. Point is, even Robins had a bad record at the Ricoh - so there's certainly a problem.

You've forgotten our best manager of all time was an attacker - one called Jimmy Hill!

Mourinho said he wants a job in England at the end of the season... Could do a job?

Nah, he's lost the Real dressing room and they're well of the pace at the moment. Can't see him and Baker getting on and Clarke would become a new Benzema (bags of unfulfilled potential)
