Amazing how SM and Estrella are regarded as "premium" over here (and at greatly inflated prices!) when over there it's just normal run of the mill lager. Some-one has good Marketing skills!

We stay at a villa in Quesada , about 40 mins from Alicante and the local supermarket sells a lager called steinburg It’s a 330ml can ideal for round the pool . It’s €6 for a case of 36 last tine I was there

I like HonestBrew as well - a few mates use it and I’ve always been impressed with the selection. Always going to get the odd duffer unfortunately but at least you know what you don’t like!

Had 4 cans of Jamestown by Thornbridge, one oatmeal stout and a 3.9% pale by some brewery from Derby. Had a bad head all day but Jamestown is nice

Neighbour very kindly dropped in a few craft ales following today’s result.
Klute by Williams Brothers (from Aldi) was a very pleasant surprise, I was expecting a standard IPA but it has a subtle lemon flavour to it - very nice, and a quick Google tells me it’s only 99p - bargain.
I have also had Lemon Dream by Salopian, which was one of my favourites when I first started drinking ale. Very excited to see it in my local Coop and it still tastes very nice, especially as it’s a cask and I prefer craft these days.

When we went to Crete you'd always get a small bottle of ice cold raki at the end of a meal, with shot glasses also kept in the freezer...just perfect.

Might crack out the ouzo later, now you mention it, but it never tastes the same when not taken on a broiling day overlooking the Aegean.
Roll on the day we can do that again.

Nothing like having a huge dinner for 10 euros with complimentary everything thrown in as well and lovely hosts. Hopefully 2022 it'll be possible.

It's Sadlers, I don't think it's brewed there any more as it was bought out by a northern company. The peaky blinders range is cringey. They used to make some decent ale and still do in the form of Mud City Stout, but since the takeover they've been flogging the Peaky horse

Nipped in to get some Klute from Aldi and picked up another I hadn’t seen before; Brut IPA by 10 4 Brewing. Can’t find much about the brewery other than they’re exclusive to Aldi.
Brut IPA is a relatively new concept, but it is as it sounds; beer thats brewed to share similar characteristics to champagne, predominantly to be dry tasting. It won’t be for everyone, but it was surprisingly good, well balanced with the “champagne” flavours coming through in the aftertaste.
Unfortunately I only got to taste half the can before my daughter knocked my glass over. Good excuse to get another for tomorrow!

New one tonight; Small Giant by Stewart Brewing, an American Pale.
Not the best, fairly bitter for a pale ale and no distinctive taste. Annoying as the can is pretty cool!
