Just put this on Facebook

Just last year and it’s not all hits but first team squad hits are

Marosi
Dabo
McCallum
Rose
Mcfadzean
Walsh
Ohare
Jobello - probably the only question mark
Godden
Allen

So 10 out of this seasons squad of 17-18 were recruited for last season - wow!

That’s an amazing thing to have achieved and is why we were champions

Absolutely hard to repeat but robins and Vivash and the recruitment team have proved very adept
Exactly this!!
I honestly believe we can do very well next season, I keep saying we are better than we think,
and we are better than even the players believed ‘Until they cottoned On.
There are Many reasons why ‘ but basically This team /squad is worth far more than ‘the sum
Of its parts‘

44k at Wembley IMO
You may well be right but if that's the case then it may as well been anybody. For the previous decade they were all working with a hand tied behind their backs. MR has to sell but gets money to spend and has been able to stamp his authority throughout the club, he seemingly gets whatever he wants, no other manager would have been given £750k to buy a striker no matter what their incomings. Was he lucky to be in the hot seat when the Wembley game happened?

That coupled with the fact Robins had relative success in his first stint.

Also investing while in league 2 is a smaller risk than investing when in league 1 and the championship.

When they saw the 40k at Wembley for the playoffs, I think that's when they understood the size of the fan base (It wasn't a one off)
Ultimately I reckon Sisu's end game is ownership of the Ricoh, no matter what they say, and if the academy and the club are roughly breaking even while Wasps are going out of business, Sisu will see that as a win.

Call me cynical if you want ;)

Here's hoping Wilson moves on from Bournemouth this year so we can have more funds to invest in staying in the Championship/pushing mid-table:emoji_fingers_crossed:

What was it about Robins that made Sisu sit up and say "let's start running a football club"?
Probably the minimum impact from Tim Fisher.

I agree it seems to be understated by some re.our performance this season, we lost just three one of them Tranmere a freak result in my opinion, had the season carried on I believe we would have won the league by double figure points, better than others have done in the recent past. We have a good way of playing, some very good players and will add better ones, I’m confident we’ll do okay.

I think if you asked the reason Mark Robins came back was one Mr Fisher

That recruitment team is always praised by people in the know for buying the right players & using statistical analysis to help them unearth gems.

Give Kasta & Job a Chance-they might find the championship more to there liking & also have got used to English league & actually living here.

Noises so far on players we interesting have shown that we now targeting better players who are still within budget.

I miss the days of signing Nathan Clarke, Kevin Foley, Charles Vernam and Michael Folivi.

It wasn't really, it had a few very talented players but lots of dross. The quality all round in the current team is higher even if there aren't necessarily players of the same talent.

Agree on this. Our current team are streets ahead of Mowbray's team in that there are no obvious weak points. Mowbrays team were decent going forward but poor defensively. Goalkeeping was shared between Charles-Cook and Burge, while Ricketts and Stokes were the best of the defenders that played regularly. This season we have had a much more settled team, and not suffered too badly from injuries. We have been a real 'team' from top to bottom.

If Mowbray had been luckier with injuries to Jordan Willis, Ben Turner and Reda Johnson we might have been stronger defensively that season, but all were injury prone to different degrees. Of course Maddison also got injured when he was at the top of his game, and then didn't perform to the same level after his sale to Norwich. There are too many 'ifs' there, and of course Mowbray further shot our chances in the foot in the January window by bringing in has beens in Ramage, Hunt and Henderson who were all woeful.

That January transfer window broke Mowbray. We were just a totally different team after Christmas. Though he himself said that’s a problem with his teams so maybe it was always going to happen.

Got a lot of time for Mowbray, played some lovely stuff and easily the second best manager we’ve had since coming down from the Championship, decent bloke too.

Think he learnt a lot about League 1 in his time here. People slate Russell Slade for the job he did but he had to try something because the squad he inherited was absolutely abysmal. Mowbray had my respect for resigning after ten games though. He knew he failed us that season.
