All too often managers go for players they've managed before. Nothing wrong with that on one level - if you know what they're about and trust them, of course you should bring them in. Sometimes, though, it suggests a manager's a bit lazy and hasn't scouted players.
Robins's signings aren't his ex players so far. This, to me, suggests he's actually thought about what we need, rather than just signing people for the sake of it. Of course it could go horribly wrong and they could all be shit, but I'm at least reassured we're thinking about who to bring in, rather than just pressing the panic buy button.
