Palmer got booked for kicking the ball away. I don't think it was dissent at the decision. I think Palmer was more frustrated at fucking up a good opportunity through poor ball control. Moments later he approached the ref in a lull in play and appeared to explain his actions. The foul he gave against Palmer when he got booked was shocking.

Whether it was a foul or not is irrelevant. If you react like that and kick the ball away with such aggression it is a booking all day long.

Yep, mve booked for celebrating towards their fans but it's ok to boot a ball at ours.He got booked for kicking the ball away. Nowhere near as bad as their player blasting it into singers corner
Agreed that did piss me off how can Palmer get done for it early on then no other player. That's a lack of consistency. Similar with Tats getting booked for gobbing off... He can't even speak English!!!!
They did it but more subtle. Palmer put so much aggression into it I don't think he had a choice.I mean the foul he gave against him. I know he was booked for kicking the ball away.
Funnily enough their players got away with it multiple times.
I was just a bit baffled when he got booked if he doesn't know a lot of English did they start with "ref you haven't got a clue you spanner"So if you gob off in a foreign language you can't get booked? That's an interesting theory
Standard. That was indeed an amusing exchange. After years of mocking players in League 1/2 (some higher!) we find out he thinks the 9th tier is a good standard of football for players… because he officiates it.
They did it but more subtle. Palmer put so much aggression into it I don't think he had a choice.
I was annoyed at Palmer, because in a high level game you shouldn't pick up cheap bookings like that and leave yourself on a knife edge.
Consistent tooRobins, plays a very good media game, he keeps it low key and doesn't really get involved with opinions with incidents. I bet outwardly or in private he kicks the cat every opportunity he gets.
Im sure he will of pulled Thomas to oneside to give his support. I also think Robins will be more upset with how it came about than the incident itself. He will want the play pre incident to be sharper and not to put things in the refs hands. He will be telling all the refs any given week do things differently so don't give them reason to become the talking point.
My opinion of Robins as manager he views every outcome as an opportunity to improve the group and individual. Win, lose or draw he talks about growth and an opportunity to learn and get better never dweals or points fingers, just has a standard and expectation that drives the culture. If you don't buy in you will be shown the door.
Winks shouted aggressively in the refs face multiple times while on a booking.
Yes Palmer deserved a booking, the issue is inconsistency when they kick the ball away multiple times.
Same as in the first half, about 3 times their players got turned and we were away but they brought our players down. Should be a booking too.
How can saka be booked for dessent but winks not?
Standard.
Didn't the ref think he was taking the piss sitting a meter away from the touchline for treatment? So I'd assume time wasting which is probably harsh. On the ref note , can anybody explain why Wright got booked for being injured?
Yeah but the ref stopped the game. He didn't have to, he could have played on as it wasn't a head injury.Didn't the ref think he was taking the piss sitting a meter away from the touchline for treatment? So I'd assume time wasting which is probably harsh.
Sorry-but you’ve fallen into the trap of listening to the “expert” pundits there. On the EFL ITV highlights the commentator said “it’s reckless and late”
If that was the case he would still be on the pitch as “reckless” is a caution (yellow card offence) and he was sent off for “excessive force” which is a dismissal from the field of play (red card).
A classic case of people employed in the sport who do not know the laws of the game unfortunately.
Well this is the problem when loads of players fake needing medical attention just to slow games downYeah but the ref stopped the game. He didn't have to, he could have played on as it wasn't a head injury.
I don't get how he was time wasting
Mmmmm-perhaps you much prefer the good old days of 6,000 V Carlisle including Burge, Kelly Evans, Haynes, Stevenson, Bigirimana, Hickman, Shipley, Ponticelli et al. You must do because your obsession to bring it into every discussion is mind boggling.Yep, unfortunately you walked straight into that one. Too much pride
Some players you would rate as world class there tbf by your own measure, League 1/2.Mmmmm-perhaps you much prefer the good old days of 6,000 V Carlisle including Burge, Kelly Evans, Haynes, Stevenson, Bigirimana, Hickman, Shipley, Ponticelli et al. I’ll stick with my 3-1 v Leicester City instead.
All the best
Yeah a still image is great, it makes it look like he's miles late after the player has gone by him. He's just kicked the ball and their player has actually gone into him.
Where was he meant to put his leg after he stretched to kick it? He wasn't even going in the direction of the player, their player went into him.
I remember in the replay the ref asked him to get off the pitch and our medical team came on I wonder if he hadn't allowed them on the pitch or something. He was being a tyke he knew what he was doingYeah but the ref stopped the game. He didn't have to, he could have played on as it wasn't a head injury.

No offence of kicking ball away there is for dissent by action though which this wasKicking the ball against the ad hoardings so it bounces back closer than it was is not kicking the ball away and I’ll die on this hill.
Far, far worse than Thomas's challenge. Barely given a second glance. The Everton one was probably a bit worse as the other player was in possession of the ball before it.

Yeah he kicked it in anger at the refs decision, it was for dissent. No offence of kicking ball away there is for dissent by action though which this was
Doesn't explain how so many of their players got away with similar yesterday. Ref was just really poor all roundYeah he kicked it in anger at the refs decision, it was for dissent.
To be fair, there has been a new directives on kicking the ball away is more around time wasting:
Time wasting: Any attempt at time wasting will result in a mandatory yellow card. This will include kicking the ball away, walking/running off with the ball, interfering with an opponent taking a free-kick etc.

Yeah it's ridiculous, then you Calvert-Lewin sent off last week, and the Jota penalty against Newcastle. There really shouldn't be this level of inconsistency, and the VAR would have reviewed the Everton one today.it's far, far worse and that's no penalty
The everton player doesn't as Thomas did catch teh player as the player moved into his leg, he absolutely clatters his standing leg
No pen and no much of a noise at the time
Because Refs are inconsistent and nearly always have unconscious bias towards "bigger" teams.Doesn't explain how so many of their players got away with similar yesterday. Ref was just really poor all round
Which would be the reverse of what ‘Enzo’ saidBecause Refs are inconsistent and nearly always have unconscious bias towards "bigger" teams.
