As anyone that referees knows getting decisions correct is only one of a myriad of performance measures but clearly var improves key decisions and getting 85% of key decisions correct over half a season is pretty damn impressive but could be improved
Perception and cheating are the twin enemies that aren’t tackled by var or statistics
Just one quick case in point
Lad had a good u15 game Saturday morning nice pitch nice kids good competitive game no back chat and no comments really
He’d made clear quick decisions think people were quite impressed I was. He then gave a pull back on a striker, clear decision but it was a quick breakaway and he was some way from the incident. All accepted it given other decisions
Previous game he gave a free kick on the edge of the box right next to it ball and player at the same time as clear as the pull back. Coach went ape shit
