Refreshing to see so much realism on this forum, with the vast majority fully aware of the huge gap between League 1 and the Championship and the expectations for the season. Apart from the odd one or two who think the present team should be challenging for promotion, maybe blinded by our performances last season into thinking we are better than we really are. Most also accept that MR knows what he is doing and, in MR, we have an honest manager and in Boddy a CEO who tells us as it is.
A work in progress and surviving this season is what the majority expect without having hissy fits every time we lose ( which will be often).

If we can survive this season, we should be better placed to consolidate our Championship status next year. Those who might still dream of back to back promotions need first to realise that it just won't happen. And, even if by some fluke it did, we'd find every single fixture would be a much greater challenge than Bournemouth has already proved to be. We would immediately be returned to the Championship richer but probably demotivated and in immediate danger of back to back relegations.

Survival followed by a minimum of a couple of seasons of consolidation would be much better for us in the short term as fans (think of hammerings by both Villa and Leicester!) and in the longer term as a club.

Although I'm reluctant to get ahead of ourselves, our ability to consolidate next season would depend on the Covid situation and the stadium situation. if crowds are back in but we're still playing at St Andrews (even though I reckon we'd get slightly higher crowds given how long fans have had to stay away) we'd be at a massive disadvantage and could be reliant on selling one or two.

He was discussing how Sheff Utd have lost their first 4 games this season but then went on to talk about their rise under his Management. They had to acclimatize to the Championship after they were promoted from League One. And it took 6 years before they were able to challenge for promotion to the Prem.
