Relax, after 6 games last season we were winless, 2 pts, bottom of table (1 Viewer)

We had the two best players in the division then though

Positives: we are hard to beat. It doesn't matter who the players are, this management team consistently keeps us reasonably tight at the back. What's that, 2 defeats in over 20 games now?
2 in 26 games

I'm extremely positive about this team, and the season.
Scored 8 goals (9 including the own goal), played 3 highly rated teams in Leics, Sunderland, and Hull (who would have gone joint 2nd if they had won last night), unbeaten in 5, good defensively in those games with the exception of Watford, scored 3 goals twice.
Progress is definitely being made. The midfield needs some work has has been said many times, but lets see what happens when everyone is fit. Plenty of time yet as we proved last season.

Need to stop benchmarking on last season. Last season was a freak and for great swathes of it were like we have been so far this season. Lots of teams underperformed, we had a lovely run in, results and situations seemed to go our way. Not to mention we happened upon 2 of the best players in Sky Blue for over 20 years

Counterbalanced by being bottom after 10 games and having hardly any home games to play for 6 weeks. Where you end up after 46 games is where you deserve to be.

Gyokeres didn’t score a single goal from open play in his final 7 games.

According to the logic of some on here that must mean he was crap
Fucking hell this forum is shit now. Waste of time and energy.

Well yes of course but you could be equally the same standard in 2 seasons and finish in a different position. My point was that the team of last season would not have made the play offs most seasons with all other contenders fulfilling their potential. I think that if being out of the top six is going to lead to players being labelled shit and the manager clueless it might be a long old season

I think it all comes down to wether you think we are more likely to turn these draws into wins or losses

I honestly think we will win more than we lose so I am still excited for the season ahead.

Agreed.

Evidenced by the fact that our worst performances this year has been nowhere near as bad as our worst last year

He was carrying a knock, but played through it (like a hero) and even if he didn't score, he contributed way more to the team than the 3 fuckwhits we played upfront last night.

And let's be honest, when we signed Wright and Simms we thought we were getting 2x Gyokeres mkii,
But what we actually got was 2x Bakayoko mkii.

I haven’t read through this thread but if we win at Cardiff and beat Huddersfield, meaning 1 defeat in 8, we’ll be looking good.

How many in that run due to suspension did Hamer miss ?
Hamer missed game 3, away to Hull City, L, so just 1 game during that first 6 games

Then missed games
8 (home v middlesbrough, W),
9 (away v Bristol city, D),
10 (home, Burnley, L), and
11 (away, Cardiff City, W)

2-1-2 during his suspensions early in the season
