Remember when we were top of The Premier League (1 Viewer)

A new season is almost upon us and I started thinking about dream starts.

The best I remember was the 1992-3 first Premier League season.

We beat Middlesbrough at home 2-1 (John Williams - David Smith) on the opening day.
Followed by Spurs away who we beat 2-0 (another 2 from John Williams).
3rd game was Wimbledon away where we won 2-1 (Gynn - Rosario)

This put us TOP of the Premier League table - Premier League 1992/1993 - 3. Round

Next game we got beat by QPR at home with a goal from Andy Impey and this saw them jump above us in the table.
Dream Start to beat all dream starts!
Repeat please CCFC.

Ah memories. Show that to the youngsters.

Not many teams still in it from that lot either.
Also, Man Utd second bottom....they went on to win the league. Only one table that counts and it’s the one at the end of the season.

93/94 1st 8 games
3 wins and 5 draws including the 3-0 at highbury

Lee hurst and Stewart Robson then got their injuries, Quinny went out of form

Strange season as we didnt lose in the last 7 games

we finished 11th but lost over half of the middle 27 games
Finished above Chelsea/ Man City and Spurs with Leicester in the championshio

Sounds right! I remember trying to tune the radio to listen to cov vs Leeds on a sunny saturday I was childishly hoping we would go season unbeaten. Think it ended 0-0

Am I right? Lol

Was that the game when they had the mural instead of a stand? Seem to recall Quinn got a hatty T and scored a real peach from a Wegerle lay-off.

Edit: youtubed it. The picture quality was so bad I couldn't confirm the mural, but the 2nd goal was the one I was on about. Absolute stonker.

It wasn't a mural but they had a fake 'stand' painted behind the goal complete with crowd noises piped through to make it look/sound like a real stand...so cheap & tacky, haha

Am I right in thinking we were the first team to be first in the PL after it was formed?
In 92/93 (First year of Premier League) Norwich were top after 2 games then us after 3.
I vaguely remember Micky Quinn ripping up Arsenal with a hat trick on an opening day fixture that put us top but can’t remember the year.

It was that season, I think. We were top after 1 game but they didn't print tables until after 3 games.

Hatty T....the only abbreviation to make something longer when pronounced!

If I remember correctly I believe 1977/78 was our best sustained start in the top flight. We were top 3, I think, until end of November when we went to Everton and got thumped.
