Tbh you'd get awful odds on us to stay up, probably something like 1.5, so isn't worth my money. Like I said everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I wasn't saying I'm right and you're wrong.
I'm just annoyed at what is stereotypical of City fans (and people from the city), that is them just disregarding our chances (without researching/thoroughly looking at all the components that come into play). How many times do you here someone say 'oh typical city' when we lose/draw a game, without taking into account the reasons for the loss/draw.
All fair enough that, I wouldn't disagree with any of it. Although the thing about footy, as you've said elsewhere, is that you can do all of the research you want and still not get it right. I've got some fantastic statistical tools at my disposal, courtesy of the work I used do. I used to work with some properly clever people, statisticians and mathematicians, but we never came up with any decent system (on horses or football) for making reliable profit. (We gave it some proper thought too!).
So, I think you're right not to bet on this, but I'd accept there's a case for thinking that we might do better than many here (including me) think. I sincerely hope you're right and I'm wrong.
So basically after doing all that research and scientific analysis, you freely admit to getting as much wrong as you get right. Wouldn't it been easier and just as prescient to have tossed a coin, to decide how you evaluated everything. The day I wrote that was the day we got the points deduction and things were looking bleak. Again you can pick out excerpts til the cows come home, I'll have got as much right that I have wrong, because that is the nature of football.

Although the record at Sixfields was superior to the Ricoh. Strangely enough the Ricoh itself was blamed for that as teams raised their game when playing there. If all the league 1 teams were the same playing strength,we would still be at a big disadvantage,we have no "home support" therefore no home advantage that all other teams have, thats why I think we'll struggle.
I don’t think playing at either Sixfields or the Ricoh has anything to do with it however if you can’t be up for playing at the Ricoh because it is intimidating as opposed to cemetery of Sixfields then players need to question their aspirations.Although the record at Sixfields was superior to the Ricoh. Like quantum mechanics, if you think you understand football, you don't.
FFS if you were as brilliant as you make out, there's be a bunch of bankrupted bookies out there and you'd be a millionaire.
From your blog, first thing I read (I can go further if you really want your brilliance as a pundit tested):
Cameroon lost all three games letting in 9 goals in the process. 4 more than last World Cup.
Shall I go on? Or do you want to admit that you haven't a fucking clue just like everyone else and get the fuck off your high horse?
How about when you predicted Spain would be in contention for making it 2 World Cups on the bounce and that Holland would struggle to get out of the group stages?
Priceless,
can't argue with those facts can he, do you have any more of his pearls of wisdom?
LJC - unless you're really determined to become disliked, you've got to ease off on this stuff about claiming to know more about football than everyone else. It's bound to get people snapping back. You get stuff wrong, like we get stuff wrong.
You can point to your opinion, and support it with what facts you've got at your disposal, and challenge others to do the same when you differ. But the whole 'you know f*ck all about football' doesn't really take it far, imho, and seems kind of rude, tbh.
Not trying cause offence here, because it's great to have people who differ, especially when they've troubled themselves to really try and work it out objectively. The analysis of other teams in the division, and why we might not struggle as much as some (including me) think, is an absolutely fair point - it doesn't need any embroidering with personal stuff imho.
Peace.

Nah i think we need to bow down on his greater judgement and take heed mere mortal. Moving on, whats the odds of Cameroon winning the next world cup??
When you claim to know a lot more about the game than the majority of the half wits on here (your quote), then you're going to have to expect that people will try to puncture that massive ego my friendJust got pissed at that Shmmmme guy picking individual predictions as if that qualified him to say I know sweet fuck all. I don't say anything just as an off the cuff comment, like some on here do. So when it is the same people that have a pop at me, I normally use reasoned arguments in my defence, normally they ignore this and just continue to have a pop. It is at this point when they go beyond a debate.

Yep, see what you're saying. Fwiw I predicted (but didn't bet on!) England and Uruguay to go through the group stages, and Brazil to win it. Shows what I know, eh.
I've a mate who (after several beers) put a grand on England to beat Italy
Wasn't Kevin Kyle was it?
You may be a very intelligent guy (a veritable Sheldon Cooper), but all i'm saying is, that you telling everyone how smart you are, and implying that others are halfwits, just smacks of arrogance, and gives people a target ie to prove your statements wrong.Nothing to do with having a massive ego. I have an extensive knowledge of football, now this isn't me just claiming to know everything because I'm a little jumped up tit. Other people appear to agree that when it comes to writing/talking/debating about football I'm half decent at it.
For example
My University (Reading) appointed my Sports Editor of the University paper ahead of many other applicants
The Guardian Newspaper selected me (and 10 others) out of many applicants to attend an insight into Journalism at their head offices
And Bradford have asked me to do some programme notes for the game on Saturday ahead of many other applicants
Perhaps I shouldn't make claims like 'I know more about football than you' which admittedly is immature.
But to have someone pick out a couple of failed predictions and basically say 'na na na na na you got them wrong, you are stupid' is equally immature

Called Costa Rica to cause an upset
Called out Brazil being worst Brazilian team ever and to make the semis
Here's a prediction: Frisky Blue to know fuck all about football
So it's now a popularity contest is it? Odd as there are far more abusive and angry posters on here that never seem to bother you.
There are also those who adopt the condescending put down approach while using words like "pal" and throwing in smiley and wink faces.
Come off it - I was just trying to politely point out to LJC that he might be winding people up a bit with some general comments. He seems to be pretty good at defending himself with regard to individuals - I'm leaving them to it.
If I wanted to make a general point, it's this:
Some people try to make their point without pissing people off (and sometimes fail). That, I'd say, is most posters - including (imho) LJC.
Some people don't worry about pissing people off because they just know they are absolutely right and who cares anyway, eh. There's a few of those.
Some people set out to piss people off because for some reason it makes them happy. There's not many of those and I try to avoid them.
I wouldn't want to be condescending Grendel, so I'll tell you straight. I've got you squarely in the last category. It's why I've generally ignored your posts. Forgive me if I'm wrong.
You'll note the lack of smileys.
Why did you think I meant you?
Priceless! Oh dear Grendel. Why did you think I meant you?
Bold statement. I predicted Germany would win the World Cup in 2014, but then again, I admit it didn't take a football genius to work that one out. I will give you credit for your optimism LJC, but I always fear the worse while these sisu bastards are in charge. As soon as they are history, and they will be one day, then that is the time when my optimism will be rekindled. By the way, good call on Costa RIca, I predicted we would draw with Italy, lose to Uruguay, and beat Costa Rica.
