All fair enough that, I wouldn't disagree with any of it. Although the thing about footy, as you've said elsewhere, is that you can do all of the research you want and still not get it right. I've got some fantastic statistical tools at my disposal, courtesy of the work I used do. I used to work with some properly clever people, statisticians and mathematicians, but we never came up with any decent system (on horses or football) for making reliable profit. (We gave it some proper thought too!).

So, I think you're right not to bet on this, but I'd accept there's a case for thinking that we might do better than many here (including me) think. I sincerely hope you're right and I'm wrong.

If all the league 1 teams were the same playing strength,we would still be at a big disadvantage,we have no "home support" therefore no home advantage that all other teams have,thats why I think we'll struggle.

I do think it is a fair point about not knowing who half the rival teams in League One have bought and who they have let go.

I haven't really any idea as to who bought who apart the City and therefore it does cloud my judgement of where I think CCFC will finish.

Think there are a few rash predicitions without looking at the whole picture andstuff like how our new recruits might or might not bed in and be a success here.

Although the record at Sixfields was superior to the Ricoh. Strangely enough the Ricoh itself was blamed for that as teams raised their game when playing there.

I don’t think playing at either Sixfields or the Ricoh has anything to do with it however if you can’t be up for playing at the Ricoh because it is intimidating as opposed to cemetery of Sixfields then players need to question their aspirations.

The big problem I believe we have is strength in depth, we will pick up injuries without question therefore it’s what happens then. Also SP needs to have a plan B which was not evident last season.

LJC - unless you're really determined to become disliked, you've got to ease off on this stuff about claiming to know more about football than everyone else. It's bound to get people snapping back. You get stuff wrong, like we get stuff wrong.

You can point to your opinion, and support it with what facts you've got at your disposal, and challenge others to do the same when you differ. But the whole 'you know f*ck all about football' doesn't really take it far, imho, and seems kind of rude, tbh.

Not trying cause offence here, because it's great to have people who differ, especially when they've troubled themselves to really try and work it out objectively. The analysis of other teams in the division, and why we might not struggle as much as some (including me) think, is an absolutely fair point - it doesn't need any embroidering with personal stuff imho.

Just got pissed at that Shmmmme guy picking individual predictions as if that qualified him to say I know sweet fuck all. I don't say anything just as an off the cuff comment, like some on here do. So when it is the same people that have a pop at me, I normally use reasoned arguments in my defence, normally they ignore this and just continue to have a pop. It is at this point when they go beyond a debate.

Nothing to do with having a massive ego. I have an extensive knowledge of football, now this isn't me just claiming to know everything because I'm a little jumped up tit. Other people appear to agree that when it comes to writing/talking/debating about football I'm half decent at it.

For example

My University (Reading) appointed my Sports Editor of the University paper ahead of many other applicants
The Guardian Newspaper selected me (and 10 others) out of many applicants to attend an insight into Journalism at their head offices
And Bradford have asked me to do some programme notes for the game on Saturday ahead of many other applicants

Perhaps I shouldn't make claims like 'I know more about football than you' which admittedly is immature.
But to have someone pick out a couple of failed predictions and basically say 'na na na na na you got them wrong, you are stupid' is equally immature

Bold statement. I predicted Germany would win the World Cup in 2014, but then again, I admit it didn't take a football genius to work that one out. I will give you credit for your optimism LJC, but I always fear the worse while these sisu bastards are in charge. As soon as they are history, and they will be one day, then that is the time when my optimism will be rekindled. By the way, good call on Costa RIca, I predicted we would draw with Italy, lose to Uruguay, and beat Costa Rica.

Come off it - I was just trying to politely point out to LJC that he might be winding people up a bit with some general comments. He seems to be pretty good at defending himself with regard to individuals - I'm leaving them to it.

If I wanted to make a general point, it's this:

Some people try to make their point without pissing people off (and sometimes fail). That, I'd say, is most posters - including (imho) LJC.

I've always said that in the long term this club cannot make Southampton or Norwich esque strides with SISU in control. Saying that I do believe we can get out of this league as things stand, obviously there's every chance SISU will do something (like Joy Seppala running down 20 goal striker Marcus Tudgay with her car) during the course of this season to prevent that from happening. Apologies for swearing etc, pre-season on this forum can get a tad annoying sometimes.
