He's just not cutting is as a player and even worse as captain at the minute, week in week out he's poor playing well below a standard he set. Looks lost a times, players leave him for dead, gets no where near him man at set pieces. He's slow, and predictable when playing passes and not put in a good game for months.
This is all from our captain. The man who's supposed to set the standard, the level of performance required by team mates to get the points on the pitch. If the captain is poor this filters down... No fight no desire no points. When the chips are down like they've been for too long now, where's your captain. Looking dejected and flat sloping back for the restart. This is all while still in the top 6, what would he be like if we were really in trouble. Why can he not motivate a top 6 side with all his experience.
He may be a model professional but not a natural leader to take out on the pitch to go and overcome our opponents. TM and JC do the preparation as soon as kick off comes it's time for Ricketts to take over.
He's way off his game and don't deserve to start just because he has the armband. TM must do the right thing.
Failing as a player and as a captain...
Time for a rest now...

It worried me earlier in the season that he didn't marshall the defence and the job of organising the line was falling to Aaron martin, but we were playing well so it was fine. Now with young loanee centre backs we look unorganized and frail. I noticed Chris stokes last night trying to push the line up audibly shouting 'higher' to the rest of the defence. I can not recall Ricketts ever attempting to co-ordinate a defensive line. I would 'rest' him when martin is available just to see how we get on without him. He was painfully slow last night as well but in fairness he wasn't even the worst player- hunt/fleck

TM has to look at his performances surely and see he's not there. He's lost his way so much. Overdue being dropped to the bench and just watching on for a bit.
Not sure who id give the armband too tho, were lacking a natural leader. Maybe Joe Cole as the younger players must look up to him and what he's achieved in the game tho he's unlikely to play Saturday and Tuesday again next week. Chris stokes? Reward him for what he's done since stepping up from the conference. Always gives 100%. He's confident and vocal in the correct way. Fleck and vincelot maybe but need to sharpen up there own game.
Shake up required tho and Ricketts would be in my office this morning if I was TM followed by a few more...

Anyone wanna pre warn Ricketts to wrap up warm today. Gonna be cold sat on the bench..... Hopefully. TM needs to do the right thing and rest/drop him. Make a statement to the team that no ones place is guaranteed now. Business end of the season, nothing less than 100% given. Perform and you'll play

If they are coming to park the bus like most do then they should pick Lorentzon as he offers more going forward

Poor again, not his worst game but not up to standard. Lorenztson showed some good ability both offensively and defensively when he came on at right back.
Why TM continues to select ricketts is bizarre. What he actually offers the team is beyond me. Offers nothing as a player and useless as a captain. Joe Cole was the one going around talking to players, even when stokes played a poor ball, fleck style he went over to him, 10 seconds in his ear to motivate him..... When do you see Ricketts offering that, our piss poor mute captain. Never speaks or motivates anyone.

If he's gonna keep playing and be captain he's gotta pull it out the bag. New approach, be heard, motivate his players on the pitch. Drag this team out the slump and repay his managers faith!!! NOW Sam now before this season slips further away.

Another performance consisting of sloppy inaccurate passes and mistakes. Slight upgrade on the previous few weeks but that's not saying much.

Why sign Lorentzson if you are going to persist with a player playing out of position ahead of him? Mowbray pissed away the whole budget in January and should have concentrated on getting three or four players where we actually needed them. I honestly think his days are numbered here.

I do question that too. He's look pretty good when he's played. With a run in the team he can only improve. Individuals at the club have said there's still money there to be used on the playing squad. Doesn't quite explain why we've still got a kid with no first team experience as back up keeper though.

Let's his man go again for the 99th time this season at a set piece.
As the leader of the team stay switched on.
Comparing the two captains you can see who's the leader!!!!

He's been so disappointing.

That today was criminal. What sort of challenge was that?
A none challenge.

Complete shambles at defending set pieces this bloke, talks a great game in the papers but as yet this season I've seen nothing from him!

Tonight is clearly highlighting the difference between a player/captain that has the commitment and desire to drag his team along. Bostwick, is a beast of a leader

Just how many more mistakes has Ricketts got to make before he gets dropped?

That first goal was shocking defending. School boy stuff.

I believe we may of got something from that game if we went in level at half time.
Only one man let this slip, yes MAF wondered from a good defensive position but the finger has to go firmly at Ricketts. To allow a big strong defender to slip you that easy when all week then would of been briefed on the dangers of him. A costly error at a huge point of the game, a confidence destroyer.
I really hope his contract is not extended for another year. His career has ran its course now.

It's like when you buy a second-hand car that runs well for a while but then starts to break down. Only then do you realize the previous owner had a reason for selling it.

Ha very true in Ricketts case, he looks like he knows he's really struggling as well, rather see Hunt start at lb Tuesday, says a lot....

He has been out of sort.

Out of sorts? That implies it's just a blip. He's just passed it. As others have said he's been poor since the first few games of the season.

He was brilliant for us at first. Really looking like he would be in line for potential player of the season.

What we have seen since is the disintegration of a player.

The only keeping him in the team is that he is captain. Not captain and he would have been dropped.

I have been very critical of Aaron Phillips, but surely Ricketts has made so many more errors than Phillips ever did. Ricketts is doing it week in, week out.

He seriously needs dropping. Think we might see pigs fly before that happens though.

I will be stunned if we keep him next year.

Tho it's not impossible to get in the play offs, realistically its a big big ask so it really is time for TM to look beyond Ricketts. Bring back Arron Phillips into the match day squad and thank Ricketts for his time. Let him see out the next 3 months of his contract from the bench.
As a for a first name on the team sheet because of being captain is hilarious. He lacks any leadership qualities, not seen one bit of confidence injected into the team from him.
Last night proved what a strong leader can do for a team. Bostwick rallied his team to keep them going and he himself lead from the front. Weathered our storm kept belief and dragged his team up. This payed dividends for them.
I'd rather Aaron Phillips learn and develop more from being in the match day 18 than Ricketts continue to fluff his way along till may

No point developing Phillips he won't be here next year, if we drop points on Tuesday its all over for sure do after that I would make changes and players that are leaving in the summer leave them out where possible.

Though mathematically still possible, it's looking pretty much over now and if Bradford win today it will be a gap of 5 points and make the task even harder than it already is.

Guy isn't captain material. He might have been 5 years ago but he looks like he is not interested anymore. I'm not sure if he had an eye on that retirement home over the road?

But he has been a complete disaster for months.
