Nope I read it.

The point is, SISU offered around the same for 50% as Wasps bought it for. If this offer wasn't enough then Wasps didn't pay enough did they?

Struggling without Tony from Swindon to back him up

They appeared too although I don't understand how a company being liquidated can actually do that.
Also the value that Wasps bought it at was about right. After all it was a stadium where the tenant appeared to not want to buy it and had a deal to return to Sixfields at anytime and had done it before.
Who knows what happens in that situation if Wasps bid had been swatted. I can understand why CCC took the deal.

So there was nothing wrong with SISU's "charitable" offer then was there if it was about right?

Like they were in London? Or like they were in Wycombe? Or like when they said the new ground would definately be back in London?

Is the profile of Coventry being raised? Can you reel off the names of the other cities on the tour who's profile has been raised (without the aid of Google)? Will you now decide to visit those cities because a concert once took place there?

With dates in Manchester, Cardiff and London (amoung others) the catchment area for this will basically be the Midlands. How many people living in the Midlands currently don't know Coventry exists and will only realise because of this concert?

I love how in all the other cities its just a low key Rihanna is playing here annoucement yet we are all expected to bow down to Wasps for managing to hire the ground out for a day.

Good post Dave.

You will be waiting a long time for Italia to reply, as he tends to ignore posts he cant answer, and is probably right now researching if its raised Sunderlands profile.

If not he is probably already planning his trip as Rihanna has now put Coventry, Sunderland, Manchester, Cardiff and London on the map. I bet London are pleased their profiles been raised so much. ;)

Pass me the landing net this ones a big un.

Really you think you are so clever. What dont you understand about the fact I like taking the piss out of you. I enjoy it.

I dont need bait, I just think you are an arse, and will happilly post whether you think you have left a cunning trap or not. (akin to Baldricks cunning plans)

By the way I recall meeting you quite a few years ago. I thought you were an arse then as well.

Probably because I was talking football and it confused you.
Anyway will you be going to the concert ?

No you were talking about yourself. Bloody hell it was boring. (Joke)

If you talked football occasionally you would probably be more interesting. (Joke) I might even enjoy a bit of banter with you, rather than tediously arguing with you.

Perhaps we should try civility. I respond to your posts because I disagree. You havent netted me, I just disagree wholeheartedly. Perhaps I could try being more polite. Perhaps you could. I could also tone the language. Do you concur?

Haha. I have been a bit off the scale recently, and need to reign myself in. I can debate a bit better than I have recently.

Its probably going to make a more valid point on a subject if I am not mud slinging, and name calling, and to be fair to Italia, I wouldnt speak to him like it in real life, and have been acting like a keyboard warrior.

Everyone does it mate except OSB, he's far too polite. It would cheer me up no end if one day he lost it and were to tell someone to fuck off.
Italia is very good at grinding people's gears tbh. All part of forum banter though.

You need to get past this.
Wasps are here to stay and the Ricoh is not the white elephant you said it was.
It is great that Coventry profile is being raised and it's exactly as Ann said it would be.

Seems exactly the same to me as before we left for Northampton, or did Ricoh never get big concerts, snooker, davis cup tennis, olympic football, international football before Wasps arrived?

Whilst italia is busy creaming himself over the Rihanna concert, the reality is that old ACL didn't do that well out of the other massive concerts held at the Arena. It's obviously a coup for them but it isn't necessarily the money spinner he thinks it is. I think the concert promoters effectively take over everything or nearly everything and pay the venue a flat fee, might be wrong.

Think you are right, and with the plethora of arenas now available to the event organizers as well as the obvious competition from Birmingham I'd hazard a guess the Ricoh would have had to offer its services and facilities pretty cheaply to beat Birmingham to the gig. All about perception and image for them at the moment rather than the bottom line.

Yes we always had top class events.
Now we also have top class football and rugby

And the Ricoh had to "bid" for the event too. Let's hope they didn't bid too much...

They've got Marianne Faithfull booked to play. Tickets are £100 - £125.

Tickets for the rest of her European tour at £10 - £35.

While posting in another thread of Wasps throwing money at additional entertainment on match days it got me wondering how their Marianne Faithful show went. Quick google tells me it got cancelled due to poor ticket sales (strangely didn't seem to be a problem on the rest of the tour).

Of course at the very least the artist will have taken a 50% fee deposit, although in all likelihood a cancellation for poor sales will mean they are still liable to pay the full fee. Oddly enough I don't seem to recall much press coverage of the cancellation.
