Where did you prefer to watch the sky blues? i know that a lot of you will say HR as you grew up watching the SB play there, but which ground is better.

Never went to Highfield Road, but judging by comments on the facebook group, everyone preferred it, I think the Ricoh's pretty amazing when its full though! Can't vote for HR never went!

Nay, went to Leeds game though, that wasn't quite full but a good 27,000

the ricoh is better, but hr was my home. Problem with the ricoh is it lacks atmosphere. We need gates of at least 26000 then and only then will everyone accept the ricoh more.

The old days of standing on the Spion Kop were treasured as a kid with me scarf and rattle and a real 'up the old five' atmosphere!
Sadly that changed and today's kids will never experience that kind of 'feel' for the game of football. But in all honesty we now have a great stadium (though not our own yet) and far, far better facilities altogether.

Depends on your interpretation of better. Better facilities, better view, better seating, better parking, better safety etc etc the only choice is the Ricoh, but until we enjoy a level of success there it will never be home. So for me better ground is the Ricoh, but I'll abstain frm the vote on the basis that HR is where my memories and my heart are.

Im probably a bit younger than some people.. I only watched at highfield road for a year or two and it had its own certain charm... as well a bit more atmosphere when the crowd got going. But for me the Ricoh is where i'v spent the majority of my supporting time so the Ricoh is home to me and as much as people complain it is a lovely stadium !

People say the Ricoh has better Facilities etc. but, To be fair considering how old HR was, It still had brilliant Facilities, and still had potential to be increased...

I went to HR a few times when I was young, I always enjoyed the walk up to the stadium and the atmosphere was great. The Ricoh has good facilities and is a very good stadium all round. However, atmosphere isn't always great unless it is a big occasion e.g chelsea and leeds as many have already said. Just kind of sucks to get to.

Highfield Rd all day. Id move back there tomorrow if I could. Looking to the future though we have a decent stadium but it still doesn't feel like home to me. I also think its no where near as good as some of the other modern stadiums.

The Ricoh is 5 years old now and up close it is starting to look a bit grotty, especially around the outside of the Tesco and CET stand. Build some terraced housing, some pubs and an effing train station and we are laughing.

Highfield rd was a great 20th century stadium = character, atmosphere, sense of community, loud when full, OK when not.
Ricoh is a middling 21st century "arena" = plastic & concrete, zero atmosphere or sense of community, cold and soulless. Better facilities, yes, but at a high price.

It has to be Highfield Road for me, so many memories. From my dad taking me up to see us beat Man U for my first game in the mid to late seventies, Clive Allen not scoring for palace after bouncing out of the stanchion in 81 (I think) the West Ham semi final, 4-3 v Spurs christmas/new year 86, probably the happiest a goal has made me when Cyrille headed in his header from the crossbar, and to finish with putting 6 past my father in law to be's team in the sunshine on our last day out there, many more memories to mention. Not been round that way since it went, wouldn't like to do so, but be interested as to who lives there now. The whole Saturday used to be great, few local drinks n then bus to town and walk up or straight to town for a few and then up the hill to HR - I miss you.

Thousands of memories ~ but ~ then they put all the seats in, and it wasn't built for that, the pitch was at eye level, whereas the Ricoh its at foot level, The Ricoh doesn't turn into a swamp in April, mind you I got server quicker at Highfield road.

For the future it's the Ricoh

Highfield Road hands down! It is CCFC's home and always will be in the heart of any true City fan! I spent a few seasons as a steward in the family stand and got to know loads of regulars! Loved the place! Been to the Ricoh a couple of times and just can't seem to find the same atmosphere.....

Highfield Road was the first ground I ever watched a live football match and the atmosphere was way superior to the Ricoh so it gets my vote however I do enjoy the convenience of the Ricoh as in the journey from my house also enjoy starting off with a few beers and a bet in the casino

Like everyone i liked Highfield Road.. Wasn't there often (wasn't into footie as a kid and i've an auntie who lives nearby so i'd stay with her while my parents were at the games). But it did have character...

The problem with the Ricoh, is while its nice (and its not ours), its not seen good football... Highfield road saw top flight football, it saw success.. Not alot, but a bit.. If we started winning at the Ricoh we might actually start to consider it home. Till then, it will be the bothersome out of the way stadium, much like middlesborough or the likes... On the edge of the city, easy to get to if you're coming in, but a pain to get to from the city itself. (okay i take that back, middlesborough is a pain to get to period.)

Had a season ticket in the East Stand at HR in the late prem days when I was a young kid and then in my teens I used to love standing at the front of the West Terrace and this was in the Championship days. Always a good atmosphere there no matter who we were playing. Sometimes at the Ricoh when we are playing someone like Scunthorpe and the atmosphere is dead I wish we were back at HR. However HR was starting to look dated and the Ricoh is a much nicer ground and it would be a much better atmosphere if the away fans moved more over towards block 15. We just need the team to acheive something (ha!) and with the JH statue hopefully the Ricoh can start feeling more like home. On a personal note I'm one of the few people who find the Ricoh easier to get to as it's in walking distance from where I live

PS I'm not voting for either

Totally agree wit Ant - the Ricoh has only existed in bad times and its very easy to look back fondly on the days at HR for this reason. Dont get me wrong i loved HR and would sooner be there but i'm sure if results/performances/attendances improved the small irritations of the ricoh would drift away

My first game was in 75 / 76 . my dad used to give the turnstile operator a couple of coins to get let me in . My first memories are of Alan Green scoring . What really sticks out in my mind was Fergie And Wallace . Magical times at a great old stadium . I have loads of great memories from highfield rd and seen some great players : Klinnsman , Cantana , Suker , Ginola , Julian Darby . At the Ricoh I don't have great memories nor have I seen great players .
And I really do miss a few pints in town and in gosford st before and after the game !

I can understand the psychological argument about not seeing success or even a sustained period of good football at the Ricoh and as such doesn't quite feel like home, but I don't necessarily buy into it.

The Ricoh is a fantastic looking stadium, the pitch is in good condition for most of the season, there are lots more facilities available, the corporate bit is 100 times better, the views from all around the stadium are better and so on but it is not a home. Highfield road for all its faults was a great stadium, even on days when there wasn't a big crowd the atmosphere was ten times better than the Ricoh, you always knew the songs would be started in the West Terrace by die hard fans, not teenage chavs underneath a cheap looking big screen, banter between home and away fans was not eliminated by a distance of 2/3 blocks of empty seats; HR in short had real character, an old fashioned real football ground.

The Ricoh is the future however and one those rare (two) occasions we have had near capacity attendances the atmosphere has been better, I 100% agree it is a better footballing stadium for materialistic reasons but for history, tradition, character all those things associated with old school football stadiums Highfield Road wins.
