The station at the Ricoh will improve access to job opportunities for local people and will create a quick connection between the north of Coventry and the city centre in one direction and Nuneaton in the other.
Councillor McNicholas, deputy cabinet member (transport) said: “When the new station opens we will have one train an hour connecting Coventry City Centre to the Ricoh and on to Bedworth.
“I am sure it will be well used by local people and on match days – rugby and football – it will provide an additional way for fans to get to games

They taIk of improved access? and job opportunities, but then say there will be just one train an hour!

Welcome to Coventry. Lol

The speed our attendances are going, the two carriages the station will accommodate is going to be far too many! Two too many probably!

Be packed full of supporters though no doubt for the other lot who play at the Ricoh.

Sorry, but their name completely escapes me for the moment.

I guess the Council will be having a competition for the naming of the station.

The only problem I see here is the refusal of British Rail to lay on any trains until their given the station for free.

This is actually very good news.

It is, but on match days I think it needs to be more than 1 train an hour. What about events and exhibitions and the casino as well? Surely every 30 mins when there is an event on would make more sense.

where I live we get one bus an hour in the evening. We are ten minutes from town, direct route, yet the route the bus takes is half an hour....it is quicker to walk!

Would there be an issue that there Is no method of terminating at the Ricoh, then back to town rather than onward to Nuneaton
I don't know If that Is the case just summising

Does it go on beyond Coventry central? On to Kenilworth? Warwick?

I can walk to the station at Bermuda in 5 minutes from my house but a lot would depend on train times as I have free parking in Hen Lane and don't need to leave my house until 2.20pm and still get in on time.

The thing is with this 1 train an hour situation is that it surely will not be able to tie in with City game and Wasps games at the Ricoh. Especially not with Wasps, with their differing game times etc.

Think it will put a lot of people off using the train, because you would be able to get to games in good time, but you may well have to wait up to an hour for your train back.

I really hope they look at increasing the service on match days and Ricoh events.

The club should organise a Timmy Fisher express ;)

Yep, should work well for many of us in the SW Leics area. I will be able to take a 1 mile walk to Hinckley station from home, quick hop to Nuneaton and then on to the Ricoh. We will work the train times around a few beers in the casino or otherwise !

Nice spot on electioneering, 4 councillors turning up. Desperate. 1 single carriage train per hour.
There is a Train with one carriage goes by today on the hour! never seen any bugger on it though

Nice to see that after the government scuppered it at the time the Ricoh was built that the station has finally been built. Hopefully I'll get to use it soon and save a taxi fare.
