Really doubt Edwards would want to walk straight into another Championship job after what’s happened with Luton.

Why do people want Rob, plays negative football at least at Luton and while he’s got them promoted, he’s had half a good year at best.

Ruud or Lampard for me (would also take Lee).

More experience in the Championship than any of the main names featured so far. It’s all gone wrong this season but he was brilliant for Luton the two years before that, and with Forest Green before them. I’d take him for sure - his style is quite direct but I think he could get the best out of Wright and Simms, who are ultimately most likely to be the key players if we’re going to get out of this division.

Bit of a cock up at Watford though weren’t he.

don’t get me wrong I’d have Rob Edwards, but I’ve a personal preference for Van Nistelrooy

I mean, it’s Watford.

Van Nistelrooy strikes me as a bit of a mystery box/flavour of the month option, with limited upside and the potential to be a disaster, but I doubt he’s interested in coming here anyway.

How is there limited upside to Van Nistelrooy?

I would suggest there’s more limited upside to the likes of Edwards, Rowett, Schumacher

I mean if we take it at face value, he’s done one year in the championship outside of this year, where he got sacked and then promoted (and no where it’s not going great).

Doesn’t seem to bring lads on imo and don’t think his style inspires any faith. Understand the comment on simms and wright but you can’t just hoof it and hope for the best anymore. Championship will eat you up as it is with Luton.

Just don’t see it as anything more than another sacking. Could be wrong but out all the names, this is the one I think I dislike the most and just fills me with apathy

Van Nistelrooy had been highly rated as a coach enough to be appointed by Man Utd. As much as I like Rob Edwards I can’t see that happening in his career anytime soon

I just don’t see any huge evidence from his time at Feyenoord that he’s this transformative figure in management or superstar coach. Very small sample size, admittedly (although that’s another issue). But Man Utd don’t seem desperate to keep him around.

As I say - I doubt he’s interested in us anyway.

I would almost be lost for words if the last week or two hadn't been strange enough as it was.

RvN who has managed 50 odd games in his career, and achieved next to nothing. Frank Lampard who has also been a bit of a disaster. Why would anyone want either of them over Edwards, a manager who got a team promoted out of the Championship with minimum funds, and also had a pretty respectable pop in the Premier League with the same underdogs.

None of them will make me feel better than having Robins here, but there's only one candidate that's got any serious stripes on his CV.

So were Erik ten Haag, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick etc etc. Seems to be a lot of people convincing themselves of this appointment.

After the talk of RvN and Lampard who at least like to play decent football for us to appoint Edwards out of the blue would be a bit of an anti climax

I'm not convinced by Edwards. Considering we've just got rid of MR for having us near the bottom of the league, it seems a bit naff to then bring in someone that's had an even worse start to the season.

On what basis are RvN and Lampard better? There's being dull and there's having more chance of getting the job done. The former two have no such credentials and are just effectively Hollywood names.

We have just lost one of the best managers in the football league and are going to have a real challenge replacing him. Some of you have lost your minds.

Ex was a PSV supporter. Take RvN's playing career out of it, go back a month and tell me that we are sacking Robins for a guy that finished second in the Dutch league with Eindhoven with Gakpo, Manueke, Simons, van aanhalt, branthwaite, Luke de Jong, Fabio Silva, Savio I would have told you to go f~©✓~=°¢✓•{$×%= yourself. Getting Derby in the playoffs is a much more impressive achievement - Mason Mount be damned!!
No strong views on Edwards. It feels like one of those - could work/probably won't appointments.

Lampard took them from finishing 6th & losing in the playoffs to... finishing 6th & losing in the playoffs.

Fewer points, fewer goals scored & more goals conceded than Rowett the previous season.
All with some of the country's best youngsters on loan, far too good for the Championship.

At this point I will take whoever comes. I've come over very strongly anti RvN there - I'm not. If he wants to do the job great and it may well work out. He's still at the beginning of his career. It's just that on paper his achievements so far are nothing to write home about.
Edit: answering your question more directly and this is pure vibes - Lampard over Rowett. Can't justify it. Just feels. Likewise, Schmidt, RvNs predecessor, or Rutten his successor were arguably more sucessful. Of the three Schmidt>Rutten>RvN. Just feels.
