The really easy solution is to give the job to Rhys Carr.

Then bring in someone at the director of football level to give him top cover.

That’s why I said I’m not 100 % , runners up ? Either way this is impressive
I have more respect for him who has done the hard yards of coaching and being an assistant learning the ropes, than your Lampard, Rooney, Gerrard who pretty much jumped straight into management.
*Yes I know Lampard briefly coached Chelsea youth team.

Doug is now realising how expensive this is going to be. Paying off contracts, employing higher profile staff…

Hesitated when asked about if it would affect the transfer budget. I’m afraid it certainly will. And any new manager coming in will want a budget for Jan.

It might make him really take his time to get it right anyway. If that means Carr takes a few more games, not a big problem.

I would be far more comfortable with Carsley than any of the others mentioned so far.

I haven't got anything other than he'd be a good fit here...

Maybe he paused because he was thinking yes I’ll give the new guy more than I was prepared to give Mark because I had reservations about whether he was the right man for us.

I’m warming to Carsley. I think if he came, and it’s probably a big if, we’d hold on to him longer than a Lampard or RVN. Carsley would be quality coach.

I was also a little shocked when I head Potter was on £200k per week. Ie, £10 million a year. These big name prem guys must be way out of our league financially. Surely, Carsley can’t be on anyway near that with the u21’s??

Dont think your far off with that, it makes sense for us to get a director of football first then he chooses the head coach, that’s his job

I’m not sure how I feel about us being liked with the current England manager. RVN and lampard.

shows how far we have come. But us in the spot light

The longer this takes the less likely it will be Lampard in my opinion. Assuming the players are back in training Tuesday, you would want to have Lampard in from then working with the players seeing as we have 2 of the toughest games of the season within 3 days of each other

Currently my preferences are looking like this

Unknown young foreign coach > Frank Lampard > Established Championship level coach > Matt Bloomfield > Lee Carsley > Any other lower league English coach > Rhys Carr

Cam with respect to you it took matt bloomfield about 60 games to start getting a tune out of wycombe in league 1 , after what I've seen recently neither yourself or a few on here are happy to give him that time to begin with and doug king certainly wouldn't be

That's why he's not one of my top choices lol

To be honest I'm warming to Lampard, he's available, clearly wants the job, I really don't think we're in danger of being relegated and it could be a fun 6 months at the very least.
