According to the CCFC website this ex-city player has passed away aged 74. I'll be honest and say that I've never heard of him, but posting this as one or two of you older folk may remember him.

I've been watching City since 1963 and can't say that I recall him? :thinking about: But R.I.P anyway.

birmingham-born vernon was on west brom’s books as a 15-year old but was signed by coventry city in 1954. He made 17 first team appearances at wing-half between 1957 and 1959. He later played for rugby town. Vernon, a popular member of the former players association had been suffering from cancer for some time.
His funeral will take place on 10 may. We will provide more details and a fuller appreciation in due course.
