Same for me. We'll it's 2 hours rather than 1 back to Shropshire so not as bad, but its.wniugj to put me off with a busy life, etc.3.5 hours back to Kings Lynn today. What was regularly a 2 hour journey last season, sometimes under for night fixtures.
Genuinely puts me off going. If nothing changes, will consider having a ST next year.
Mid week I’m really not bothered, I book an hotel as I work in London. But weekends I like to give our milkman time off and catch up with the wife so time is precious. You’ll save a fortune. Or park away from the stadium and walk 15-20 minutes? There are places where you can get away quicker if you fancy walking a bit.
I’ve been trialling different places to park, different routes etc. I don’t mind walking and have done the last two games but the end result is the same no matter where you park. Took me 1 hour 15 mins to get to J2 of the M6 yesterday. You’ll save a fortune. Or park away from the stadium and walk 15-20 minutes? Yes, spend £50 minimum and get 5 hours of parking.I’ve been thinking…could I park at Tesco and then go for something to eat at like Pizza Hut after the game, without being charged for parking? Wasn’t it ok to park there as long as you spend over a certain amount?
Hmmm…I ain’t doing that. I figured, have some tea after the game, and also allow the crowds to disperse.Yes, spend £50 minimum and get 5 hours of parking.

Think I’ll have to find an alternative…an hour in the car to get out of Cov is not fun.
Have a look at JustPark or something similar. Book one 20 mins or so walk away and plan around that.Hmmm…I ain’t doing that. I figured, have some tea after the game, and also allow the crowds to disperse.

tbf if we're asking Pete to go to the club and suggest removing the road closures the club say have been put in place due to the risk of supporters being run over we're going to need a bit more than people being annoyed that they get home a bit later.@Sky Blue Pete - are the club aware of the carnage and frustration that this is causing - leading to a fair few questioning attending and renewing season tickets!? (I know it is early days)
A £50 Tesco voucher is a valid spend and, in effect, makes the parking free.Yes, spend £50 minimum and get 5 hours of parking.
That was some effort to pull back from your typo!Enough
Well obviously, but that wasn't the question.A £50 Tesco voucher is a valid spend and, in effect, makes the parking free.
The people of Bedworth will be annoyed I suppose? On Saturday I headed back to M6 through Bedworth and the A444 has the outside 2 lanes for anyone wanting to go down A444 or north on M6 closed. Is this part of the road closures and if so what purpose does it serve as it delays people getting on roundabout and heading anywhere but down the A444?!
Hopefully not by me using their roads to try & beat the queuesThe people of Bedworth will be annoyed I suppose?
You've answered your own question (they don't use their brains).I dont understand how people will get killed if they used their brain!
there are traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing on the A444 roundabout..The problem is pedestrians that gamble at the lights rather than wait
“when the little man is Red you wait and when the little man is green you can cross”
It’s not difficult but just a shit show and will put people off going next season
It’s not much hassle really. There are loads of local work-rounds. I did notice a mile tailback from Bowling Green Lane to Bedworth by-pass. Just over a mile. But you get that at certain times on every day. It hit that area about 40 minutes after the end of the game. The people of Bedworth will be annoyed I suppose?
Ignoring people that are pissed / wasted / stupid I think the concern is the infrastructure around that crossing which simply isn't designed for the number of people using it.I dont understand how people will get killed if they used their brain!

There is the potential for any crowd anywhere to bottleneck and put themselves at risk. If the traffic lights increase that risk, it makes sense to allow pedestrians smooth exit. There are clear pinch points and anyone could see that. Even the car drivers who insisted on pushing through once the lights were on green). Despite there being pedestrians on the crossings/ it being unlawful.I dont understand how people will get killed if they used their brain!

Surely just adjust the crossing time on the lights in favour of pedestrians would help this. Let the drivers just sit at the lights 30 seconds longer. There is the potential for any crowd anywhere to bottleneck and put themselves at risk. It might take just as long as now ?Surely just adjust the crossing time on the lights in favour of pedestrians would help this. Let the drivers just sit at the lights 30 seconds longer.
I standby that I completely understand why they have to close roads off for football games, even if I do not completely agree with it.
On Saturday, on Lythalls Lane, by the Cherry Tree pub, a car was trying to turn right onto, I think it's King George's Avenue, towards Foleshill Road, anyway and I stopped as I could see him turning right. A guy with, who I presume is his son, of all about six year's old, goes flying past me in front of the car edging forwards.
Football fans just have this weird lack of safety navigating roads when coming out of grounds. It was a matter of time before someone was killed crossing the A444, and no doubt, it would have been a child. Maybe fans should, you know, just stop walking into traffic?
I know what the highway code says, but my point was not one of legality or right of way. Obviously it is incumbent on all of us who use the roads; as pedestrians, cyclists, car users etc... to act within the law, use common sense and with safety as paramount.TBF, highway code was updated to state that vehicle users should give way to pedestrians waiting to cross when turning at a junction. Also states that they must give way to pedestrians who have started to cross, and that's supported by law. So in the scenario you are describing the vehicle user should be stopping anyway. Not that anyone pays any attention to the highway code.

My point is that there appears to be a mentality issue in football crowds that they will accept the risk of putting the actions of another person to be tantamount to their own safety, and in this situation, which is why I highlighted it specifically, and that of this person's son, with potentially uncharacteristic wanton abandon.
Simply put - football fans in crowds cross roads much more dangerously than I observe elsewhere, and if the club, ground or police did not act to reduce the risk, the fallout if something did happen could be considered a failure of the duty of care to supporters.
