Same for me. We'll it's 2 hours rather than 1 back to Shropshire so not as bad, but its.wniugj to put me off with a busy life, etc.

We had what’s 2h 30m journey en route extended to 4h as the M5 was closed. Watched a shite game, then sat in traffic trying to get out of Cov.
Imagine our joy when we the M4 bridge into wales was also closed!
7h 30m driving for 1h 30m of shit football…the boy loved it!!!

I’ve been trialling different places to park, different routes etc. I don’t mind walking and have done the last two games but the end result is the same no matter where you park. Took me 1 hour 15 mins to get to J2 of the M6 yesterday.

I’ve been thinking…could I park at Tesco and then go for something to eat at like Pizza Hut after the game, without being charged for parking? Wasn’t it ok to park there as long as you spend over a certain amount?

I used to park in Tesco but given that a miss this season and looks like it's the right decision.
I walk about 20 minutes away and go through Henley Green/Wyken/Walsgrave to make it out to the M6.

tbf if we're asking Pete to go to the club and suggest removing the road closures the club say have been put in place due to the risk of supporters being run over we're going to need a bit more than people being annoyed that they get home a bit later.
Probably need some more specifics about where people are parking and where they're getting stuck as its obviously not impacting all routes.
I park at Christ the King, left on the final whistle yesterday and by the time I'd walked back to the car park they were opening the roads back up. Headed onto Winding House Lane, up the A444 and straight onto the M6. Was parked up at Birmingham Academy at 6:15, ended up being there far too early as I was expecting to get stuck for ages from what people have been saying on here!
A £50 Tesco voucher is a valid spend and, in effect, makes the parking free.

I can see the case for a (shortish) closure for pedestrian safety, but we were sat on Car Park A after the crowds had cleared playing spot the pedestrian. Meanwhile the roads stayed closed.

Nullifies those that continue to try and destabilise the owners and the club by asserting it was a club decision.
Obviously CCFC just haven’t the powers to close an A road and of course it came from the police.
Very sensible decision for the majority of the 25K+ supporters who want to get home safely.

On Saturday I headed back to M6 through Bedworth and the A444 has the outside 2 lanes for anyone wanting to go down A444 or north on M6 closed. Is this part of the road closures and if so what purpose does it serve as it delays people getting on roundabout and heading anywhere but down the A444?!
The people of Bedworth will be annoyed I suppose?

On Saturday, on Lythalls Lane, by the Cherry Tree pub, a car was trying to turn right onto, I think it's King George's Avenue, towards Foleshill Road, anyway and I stopped as I could see him turning right. A guy with, who I presume is his son, of all about six year's old, goes flying past me in front of the car edging forwards.
Football fans just have this weird lack of safety navigating roads when coming out of grounds. It was a matter of time before someone was killed crossing the A444, and no doubt, it would have been a child. Maybe fans should, you know, just stop walking into traffic?

It’s not much hassle really. There are loads of local work-rounds. I did notice a mile tailback from Bowling Green Lane to Bedworth by-pass. Just over a mile. But you get that at certain times on every day. It hit that area about 40 minutes after the end of the game.
A444 via that route makes sense.

Ignoring people that are pissed / wasted / stupid I think the concern is the infrastructure around that crossing which simply isn't designed for the number of people using it.
Prior to the road closures it was becoming common that there was a crush occuring at the steps on the north west side of the stadium. With the layout as it is you would only need a couple of idiots at the top of the steps to push people over and you'd have a literal domino effect which would end up with a considerable number of people waiting at the crossing being pushed out into the road.
Given the speed at which people fly around that roundabout, including huge trucks, that could have very serious consequences.
There's also an issue on the other side of the crossing, car park c side, where the pavement simply isn't wide enough for the number of people crossing the road, they therefore get over the crossing and funneled which means people who crossed on green are still in the road on red.
Its a design floor and one I'm not sure is easy to fix, and would certainly be expensive and lead to months of roadworks if they could devise a fix.

There is the potential for any crowd anywhere to bottleneck and put themselves at risk. If the traffic lights increase that risk, it makes sense to allow pedestrians smooth exit. There are clear pinch points and anyone could see that. Even the car drivers who insisted on pushing through once the lights were on green). Despite there being pedestrians on the crossings/ it being unlawful.

Surely just adjust the crossing time on the lights in favour of pedestrians would help this. Let the drivers just sit at the lights 30 seconds longer.

Last year saw some utterly stupid people in relation to the crossing, including one stepping out almost getting hit and then trying to punch and kick the car going passed. Or when it was clear red light with cars moving and people trying to push people onto the road.
Its crap, think the club know its crap but if people can’t be trusted then the dread safety board will come in and way overstep.

TBF, highway code was updated to state that vehicle users should give way to pedestrians waiting to cross when turning at a junction. Also states that they must give way to pedestrians who have started to cross, and that's supported by law. So in the scenario you are describing the vehicle user should be stopping anyway. Not that anyone pays any attention to the highway code.

I know what the highway code says, but my point was not one of legality or right of way. Obviously it is incumbent on all of us who use the roads; as pedestrians, cyclists, car users etc... to act within the law, use common sense and with safety as paramount.
My point is that there appears to be a mentality issue in football crowds that they will accept the risk of putting the actions of another person to be tantamount to their own safety, and in this situation, which is why I highlighted it specifically, and that of this person's son, with potentially uncharacteristic wanton abandon.
Simply put - football fans in crowds cross roads much more dangerously than I observe elsewhere, and if the club, ground or police did not act to reduce the risk, the fallout if something did happen could be considered a failure of the duty of care to supporters.
I think it's just large groups of people in general, and you don't know what this particular person is like normally, a lot of people do generally lack common sense.
