The fact is some people are getting very pissed off at being kept in the grounds car parks are threatening to not go anymore

The road closure times are arbitrary. I’ve been stuck at one midweek game and didn’t complete a journey home which would take 20 minutes normally for 70 minutes

I stayed one week in the Anecdote for half an hour afterwards and the roads were still shut.

There is on access out of the car parks and traffic banks up due to the delays.

I have no idea what other clubs do. What do Derby do as an example. Similar crowds and a similar location

The train company, or failing that, a charter service. It's not like they haven't done it before: London Midland hires rolling stock to plug sports gap | Railnews | Today's news for Tomorrow's railway

Yeah it will need to go out onto Longford Road up to the Blue Ribbon Island which is gridlocked.

It’s a two coach platform. You would need trains going every 5 minutes to get people into the centre. I don’t see London midland provided that service every other week and I doubt they’d have the capacity

All of the traffic is diverted over that way.

Both. Longford Road backs up which then gridlocks the A444/M6 roundabout.

Honestly, no idea how they solve it. The roads cannot cope with a closure so other solutions need to be found.

What about any ordinary motorist who can’t use the 444 past Tesco to get on the M6? Why should they be inconvenienced by idiot pedestrians coming out of the ground?

The northbound platform is three coaches long, the southbound platform is six coaches long. (The train I caught on Wednesday was more than two coaches iirc)

There was a short-lived plan to increase capacity by using London Underground trains that could run every 20 minutes which would have been paid for by Wasps - don't know how feasible it was, but I would appreciate some kind of effort for a much bigger fanbase like ours. Otherwise if the mentality you're describing prevails then obviously it will never be fixed or improved.

Long long way off but is the tram system the council keep going on about planned to arrive at the arena?

I don’t see a railway company commission rolling stock and making timetable changes for 23 days a year

The two-coach trains are a big part of the problem. I very much do not want to spend 40 minutes after the match standing at the platform gates mixing with the away fans, then when the train's in sight there's a massive push for the platform and people shoving their way to the front.

They either come off at Blue Ribbon and down Longford Road or off at Holbrooks and through Ash Green.

All roads that also have roadworks.

Ultimately you've got nearly 30K people going to a stadium that doesn't have the infrastructure to support that many people leaving. You see the same complaints whenever there's a concert in the stadium.

The solution is going to be increased public transport but we all know that's not happening anytime soon, other than that there's not really going to be a safe option that doesn't involve someone somewhere having to wait.

As much as I agree about the idiot pedestrian thing, we’re almost at the ‘Tesco shoppers angry that the area is busy on match days’ complaint.

The traffic gets thrown down towards Longford or back around towards Bedworth (or back on the M6)

It does look like there are extra trains after the game now, but still fairly infrequent and don't know the capacity -

Thanks for the message and thank-you for reaching out.

The road closure itself is managed and operated by the CBS Safety team, as a club we don’t have any involvement in the operation itself on the day and don’t have any control over the timings etc. Supporters who attend a game at the Arena are coming to see Coventry City FC and rightly want to communicate with the club and its important that everybody feels they can question when they feel something is not right. We are doing everything possible (it may not look like it which I suspect will be the feedback) to ensure things work smoothly on the day itself and ensure if things are not done correctly these are picked up and discussed in detail.

On Wednesday evening, there was a delay to the road closure opening due to an incident which involved a member of the road safety team while trying to open the road, which then further delayed the opening due to liaising with police and ensuring the member of staff was ok. I fully understand the frustration as I was sitting in the delays myself, we all want to get home after game quickly, especially a midweek game.

I am listening and as a team we are working hard to ensure we take feedback and relay and adjust where needed. On the points below, I will share and provide feedback.

Sorry if I've missed it but what were the three specific points?

Could one option be that I suggested on the last forum thread about traffic on the motorway side of the ground being all funneled to the Motorway and on the Tesco side into town? It would free up lots of the traffic without risk to those crossing the roads and then when the other routes do open, the remaining traffic will also move more freely as lots of the congestion has already moved away from the area.

*edit: and if it isn't and you agree that it's a sensible solution, then can you put this to John and ask him to forward the suggestion to the policing or those who make the decision? Hard to believe as it's their job that they wouldn't already have considered it, but you never know I guess!

We’ve found the parking generally miserable and frustrating this season. I’m not the driver but I can see how unpleasant it is being bumper to bumper, trying to drive with courtesy and give and take, only for a car to push in aggressively and almost hit yours as happened to us on Wednesday night. This car proceeded to continue to cause problems to the point that a road rage incident seemed imminent that we’d be unable to move away from. It might make me a bit of a wuss but it’s putting me off renewing my ST next season. I don’t know what the answer is. I just know it feels horrible after most games
