The two wide players worried me. They were too easily pinned to the line and couldn't beat their man in the first half. Sakamoto improved in the second half but EMC? We need to see more from him and soon.

You need underlaps and overlaps. Tatsu had a little more joy against his full back because of MVE. EMC was a little more against it with no one pulling away the second defender

EMC needs to be eased in, but Wright being injured hasn't allowed for that. Sounds like they all need to be better tbh... we should be beating Oxford at home so let's hope we can get up and running.

The left forward will never get the attacking support from Bidwell that the right forward gets from MVE.

We play so much better at tempo with players having more freedom.
I really hope the kick up the arse isn't just about passing more for it's own sake.
Get the ball to Rudoni and Saka and let them create.

Playing next to Allen doesn’t help his game.

True because Torp can't win the ball for himself or find space for his team mates to pass to him?
He was the worst player on the pitch yesterday. I doubt he touched the ball three times in the first half.

He has had a full pre season now so no excuses, he has to start showing he has got what it takes at this level.

I thought Binks had a nightmare personally. Got caught the wrong side of his player twice: the first time resulted in him pulling back the attacker and getting booked; the second time was in the lead up to their goal.
Think he made more than 1 last ditch tackle to deny almost certain goals or goal scoring chances for Stoke.

Robins needs to address why we overwhelmingly start games very flat. So many poor first half performances.
That includes looking at his motivation because we don't seem pumped up at the start of games at all. Even at home.

This is one of the biggest disappointment's and it's not just this season, it's just baffling.

So much for the likes of Dr Roberts etc. 😡

There was a moment yesterday in the first half we managed to overplay but get out of a big press and it was done, we'd got out, fans applauded, Plymouth shouted sighs of frustration...andnit went to a cov midfielder in acres of space and he passed it straight back to binks

We'd just got out ffs and we passed it back into where they'd just worked a triangle to get it out. I was fuming and if I were binks I'd have absolutely bollocked that player. Can't remember who it was
Noticed that, think it was Torp, exactly the point I was making about having an opportunity to advance the ball but play to a pattern instead!!

The biggest issue I had with Robins comments was when he said the players didn't work out what to do in the first half. Surely if they can see it from the sidelines they should be getting messages on and changing things, not just waiting for halftime

Could be worse we could have Wayne Rooney in charge, Plymouth look awful.

Can see both arguments on Binks yesterday but consistently he struggles against a big strong, striker. Never seems to be able to get in front of them. Both him and Thomas got pinned continually by Ennis yesterday. Much prefer Kitching as the left sided centre back.

You only have to look at 1st half 2nd half league tables to see we started slow
It's often seemed to me that Robins is happy to go in at 0-0 at HT and to try and win tye 2nd half from there. Given the overall improvement in the squad over the last couple of seasons i would really like to see us coming out more aggresively at home at least

the reality is Ipswich who came 2nd lost 6 games all year last season.

We have already lost 1 after 1 game.

I’m sorry but without being ruthless, this year will absolutely slip away from us

The stats on this are quite surprising. In the history of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier (post war), no team that has lost the first three games has ever finished in the top 2. There are only 6 examples in history of a team who lost the first 2 games finishing in the top 2. Of course, we haven't lost two games, let alone three, and not saying we will, but it does illustrate just how difficult it is to recover from a bad start (in terms of automatic promotion, which I'm not saying was a likely outcome anyway before people shout at me). Play offs obviously very different.

It’s the old habit of showing far too much respect to the opposition

If we can get a proper right back in (a sound defender similar to Bidwell) I wonder if we could play MVE on the right side of the midfield three. He is good defensively and going forward, so I think midfield might suit him.

We should have scored in the first minute, equally should have conceded 2 or 3 in that half. There was one team creating chances and bothering to shoot at the goal, with another doing a Southgate tribute act.

As it turns out in not getting a shot on target all game we were even more 'Southgate' than the real thing

You just have to accept that sometimes you have an off day.

To share a snippet of a conversation I had with my old uni mate who is a Stoke STH, who said:

You were spot on [at HT I said we’ll come and be the better team in the 2nd half] - we were well second best in that half. Thought you were really good and basically we took the one chance we had in the last 45

Went on to say how he expected us to be in the playoffs. That’s because you can see the way we moved the ball in patches was really good. The final 3rd was a problem and we couldn’t break them down and seemingly was too cautious in our passing.

It’s not doom and gloom, there’s much improvement to be made and we’ll get there.

Don’t think is anything to do with Roberts. Robins is ultimately the one responsible for the starting 11 and the tactics.
The weird thing is, for the first two minutes we went for the throat with them and could have easily scored.

So, it started out all okay

It was then the following 43 mins that went completely wrong.

It was a lot like the bad run of last season continued-too cautious, too prone to silliness at the back.

Hope it’s a one off!

Yeah, I thought we bossed it completely in that second half, UNTIL they scored. Then we just seemed stunned and rather clueless.

Stoke really and truly, did not look like they would ever score in the second 45 mins

We weren't ruthless enough though
