Robins had zero clue (1 Viewer)

Victor Torp created the most chances in the Eliteserien.
Mason-Clarke’s goals, chance creation and defensive numbers were all elite last season.
Rudoni had great ball-winning and ball progression numbers and was considered one of the most O’Hare-like players in the country.
Dovin was statistically the best or 2nd best goalie in his league.
Thomas and Kitching both put up excellent numbers in their season together at Barnsley.

Everyone we’ve signed, bar BTA, has had very impressive statistical numbers the season before we signed them. Asante I assume was a Robins request.
Agree with this. The problem is we've signed individuals and not a team. Last season we were a forward short, if EMC and joined when signed it would have made sense then. We then lost Ohare, Palmer and Godden and replaced with Rudoni, BTA and Bassette. In midfield we haven't ever replaced Hamer and then Kelly left too, we brought in Torp but at least 1 player short. At the back.McFadzean left and wasn't replaced, we have no RB specialist cover and there are question marks over the two left backs. Goalkeepers we had a third keeper last season in Moore who never played, we spent money to replace with Dovin and now have Collins who will never play. So we lost 2 leaders in McFadzean and Kelly, and haven't got a settled side. Too many egos not enough leaders. Not sure who makes decisions but the issues we have were foreseen by many on here. Problem we have is that unless we get someone like James in now, I cannot see how this changes before January unless there is a management change.

We’re 7 games in.

We’ve had shit starts to the last two seasons and finished in a play off final and FA cup semi

Aidy was cleared sacked for gross misconduct hence no statement, no transparency and statements through lawyers. He wasnt the messiah, he was also an ‘unknown’ coach when he joined.

We have assembled a young squad as per the desired “brentford” model. They’re taking time to flourish is all.

There is nothing but rumours in the “King wont sign matty james” narrative. Stop confusing rumours and facts.

The leaks at the club have stopped, stop making up other rumours to try to fit a club in crisis narrative. It is just as likely that King and Robins are completely on the same page and in agreement about everything. Noone knows anything for fact.

Robins should have a job at this club for life. He goes when he wants. He is a principled man that if it was really that bad and he felt he couldnt fix it he’d go himself. As someone said, a relegation to league 2 wouldnt happen under him. If King sacks him he can have back my season ticket. I wont sanction that nonsense.

The vocal minority are incredibly entitled, drawn in by the hype train around us. They were the same at the start of last season too, i remember it well.

We’ll come good, we’ll have a great season with some very good youngsters, we’re lacking leadership without sheaf in the side

We’re not competing with Leeds, the season we were a penalty away from the Prem we lost home and away to Burnley

We arent going to get fucking relegated stop shitting your pants. Even if we didnt improve at all, there are some shite teams in this league we’d still beat. Honestly the mood swings some of you have should be diagnosed
If King sanctioned 'a job for life' for Robins irrespective of performance on the pitch, failed targets or money supplied he wouldn't be doing his job.
King's job is to drive this club forward not to be some dizzy fan boy.
I suspect Robins will be gone by the start of next season. Go and support the team he goes to.

I do not respect you as a person or a poster, so the pissed up rant is a bit wasted on me- but I confess I am honoured to be the subject of your daily early hours waffly attempt to get all macho with someone, as you attempt to offload some of the bitterness at life you carry with you. It’s not normal to be so angry, you need help 😁

I have no bitterness towards life. I'm very happy and I've worked really hard to get myself there. I do however, see how you behave and it isn't just the odd jibe (which we are all guilty of), it's all the time. Constant. Every single post is a belittlement of someone different. Carry on if you want, but it might be helpful for you to reflect on it.

No idea if any of those stats are true, but we are in the Championship, a high level competitive league.
It's very unlikely Torp will make it.
Rudoni and Kitching were both in relegation teams from this league. Rudoni is nothing like COH.
EMC is not 'elite', lots of development needed, we'll see.

Nowhere have i stated King sanctioning a job for life. Im saying I would support Robins until he says “i cant fix it”.
Then i’d back the next person.
The man dragged us up 2 leagues, from our lowest ebb. He deserves the loyalty repaid.

Like i trust him to turn it around, i also trust him
to admit if he couldnt.

What has that got to do with anything
Over the course of the season, we werent competing with them. Yes we nicked points, but we werent rivals for position. Our fight was with West Brom, Norwich and Hull.

annoyingly for my point we’ve already lost to one of those teams hahaha

Quinn1971, apologies I can't seen to be able to quote posts at the moment.
I've answered your question about what managers I would replace Robins with, in Post 250. You've chose to ignore it. Like Grendel said, we would get managers applying from this country and abroad, experienced and inexperienced. Its up to King to decide not me.
As for 14 managers in 14 years, wasn't one of them Mark Robins?

You literally said Robins should have a job for life and you'd hand back your season ticket if King sacked him.
Of course Robins isn't going to say he can't do it and walk, it would cost him a fortune. They will agree a form of words and he will go amicably. I suspect at the end of the season.

If you are waiting for managers to apply, then you're a fucking idiot.

If you think managers apply to a vacant position, then you're a fucking idiot.

Regardless of whether he should be sacked, who we get in, and all of the divisive arguments at the minute, I'm continually shocked at how little fans know about modern football.

Fair enough, couldn’t be bothered scrolling through all that, yes it was, and it took us 13 shit ones to find him 👍

I think I know how it works. If King wanted a new manager, he would be in contact with agents etc, to see who is available. If a manager resigns or is sacked, managers then apply for the job. I wonder how George Boateng got appointed this summer
As for modern football, it's seems our current manager doesn't know about it.

Which is why posters are reporting on team news a day or two before games.

Why would any manager come in if they’re going to have to take the blame for Doug and Claire’s shitty decisions?
I’d take a punt at the Performance Director having, ironically, an adverse effect on performances.

One of many ‘cooks spoiling the broth’ though, perhaps. Who knows.

Robins has said he’s involved in the decision making on the coaches.

Robins also fell out with Adi. Robins said the quality of applicants for the the assistant manager led him to appoint 2 coaches rather than an assistant.

Robins has backed the club to move to an elite level structure and said Dr Claire has been great.

We’ve had record season ticket sales and the CBS packed. Shirt sales off the scale. Doug is sorting income streams into the club.

There’s been significant investment such as the training ground, Robins has been backed with money to spend on players more than any other manager in our history.

It was Robins decision to appoint his mate Dean Austin as Head of Recruitment. He approves with Dean the players to go for after recommendations.

Robins makes the team selection and selects the tactics. He keeps saying the players aren’t carrying out instructions. The players look like they can’t be arsed.

Robins has done wonders for the club over the years but all the above points to him being backed and failing to deliver right now. He’s in a fight to save his job. I hope he sorts it but he’s got no where to turn right now.
💯

Or they could get away with everything because fans would just say it's somebody else's fault.

Dream job.

I think it’s more likely down to players having issues with the coaching and not Robins. I’m pretty sure that most of the coaches have come from youth football.

Carr was an individual coach for Wolves Academy, Robert’s is an ex swimmer and women’s team player who was “Head of Elite Development” at the PL but hasn’t been at a club, Aled Williams is a goalkeeping coach who was U23 GK coach at wolves, Delaney was academy coach at Villa then here, Boateng was U18 and U23 coach at Villa then Assistant Cosch at Ghana where they managed to not qualify from a Cup of Nations group with Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.

This is by far the highest level job any of them have ever done. Madness to hire them all at once.

This is a very valid point, and could very well be the core of the issue. Something has clearly gone awry behind the scenes, and either/both theories could hold water.

Depends what wage package was on offer for these roles ?

Not really. Experience in first team men’s football at a high level is experience no matter what your wage slip says.
That wasn't my point . You highlighted the experience levels we've recruited, I was wondering if the wages offered were higher would we have had applicants with more experience?

It might not be an in issue with coaching or data or recruitment etc

I love robins but he rarely has us v attacking. We tend to win by one goal and nervy ends to games etc. now we lose creative spark in game o hare and Palmer and we havnt really replaced it

All of a sudden we go from winning by narrow margins to losing by narrow margins

He does need to show more attacking intent but perhaps the players really are mentally not rdy to do that I dunno.

I would give him more time however based on his history with us to get it right

And if not hopefully tony mowbray is healthy and ready to come back to me.

When a manager goes, the vast majority of coaching staff also go.

so if people don’t like the new coaching setup …

Ah with you now.

Apparently we had decent applications. Either penny pinching or determination not to hire people who outshine you is my guess. That’s usually what fucks hiring up.

Along with people with the gift of being able to blag, bullshit and bedazzle in interviews with nothing to actually back it up with.
