We had played less than most teams the tired shit is bollocks players should be the fittest they've been all season. We knew we where punching above our weight but we are now getting found out. I think a change of formation against Barnsley is needed and definitely two up front as Gok is all alone up there I would play Tavares with him give the lad ago we know what waghorn can do and that's f##kall

We were better than them first half. Despite us looking pretty toothless,

we seem to be toothless every game now, Gyokeres must be fkin knackered, waghorn offers fuk all, for me time to let Tavares play some part, what have we got to lose.

and Robins beginning to lose the plot.

Having slept on it, I think Cardiff got their tactics right

They knew we would come at a high intensity and they just cleared their lines for the majority of the game. They also have a busy schedule so everyone is shattered

They then pounce at the opportunity knowing our high intensity game knackered us and take the win

Maybe we need to play a half of absolutely crap football just to get a breather then play our normal game for the second half. Otherwise I can't see it getting any better until a break in fixtures

Some weird comments on here.

Cardiff looked fresher and fitter than us? No they didn't. They took their chances well and wisely didn't chase us around the park while we retained possession. Sat back and let us ask very few questions.

HoW cAn theY be TiRed thEy r atHlete?! Because athletes are human and humans get tired with lots of strenuous activity, whether you train for it or not, sometimes you get tired?!

Our problem is the final third, no shots I rate Sheaf one of the best midfielders in the division but can’t remember one pot shot, can’t remember his last shot, non from Allen, non from Shipley, Waghorne gets his usual criticism when he comes on but atleast he had two or three digs at goal, I’m sure it’s an issue in Robins thoughts and plans but an am has to be his close season priority.
I’ve just had a stint in hospital and a bit house bound at the moment so watching a lot more footie than normal and watch the prem teams they get 20 yards from goal they are looking to pull the trigger we want to walk it in.

Hope your recuperation is going well.
We definitely need someone a bit more direct in mdfied with an eye for goal.

Don’t think anybody is saying he’s going to take the league by storm. Robins is moaning the players are tied, if that is true then it must be the same for other teams given they have played more matches than us. With 10 minutes to go and with no real prospect of threatening the opponent’s defence I can’t see why you wouldn’t throw someone on with some speed it might actually do something.
I can hear the after match interview now on Saturday that we were too tired again, the pitch was bumpy, the pitch will be the same for both teams. He has a squad and chooses not to use some of them, fine but don’t moan they’re tied when you could have done something about it.
I totally agree but everyones clamour on here for Tavares is clutching at straws, he is a young kid and all he has to do is have a couple of stinkers and the crowd get on to him, as our crowd has a habit of doing, he goes from hero to zero and ends up somewhere like Wrexham ala Ponticelli. Lots of people were clamouring for Foden but Pep managed that right so lets stop the clamour for him to start playing in the first team and leave it to Robins, although I would like to see what he can do myself its really too early for the kid as yet...same with Howley but I do feel we will see at least one of them before the season ends if not both

Tired thing doesn't wash for me. At xmas when everyone had 4 games in a week and we had none cuz if covid, we effectively had a winter break that no one else did.

Partly agree Steve; however, the crowd tend to be a lot more lenient with a newbie, and it is not only about giving them a chance, but protecting those who are in need of a break/carrying a niggle that gets worse. We don't have a big squad, so if we do have players out, we need to use these potential youngsters, as some can surprise you (Bayliss, Eccles etc in punching above their expected weight. Only way to find out imo)

He has to play at some point right? or does he rot in the U23 forever, at some point we have to take that chance

This is a problem when we lose a lot of fans get on his back ,he has performed miracles on penny's compared to the big spenders who are in financial shit so be careful what you wish for.

Fabio is 21, surely if he is going to make it at this level it's now.
Loads of teams are playing much younger players, "Robbings" and his assistants must genuinely believe he's not good enough.

We're allowed to comment on some sbit excuse comments (which most predicted would come) and some baffling squad rotation decisions. You've got Jones, tavares, howley who have played 0 mins sat on the bench. And you bring on waghorn who's a) not performing, b) not been maych fit since September c) just come back from another injury and d) imo doesn't do enough anyway. Then then maatsen who's gone from being our young lwb to am. Cm rwb. Up front next?

If Jones tav howley whoever ain't good enough, why are they even on the bench.

This is it. Bagan had two games at notts County on loan and was sent back. A year later he's now given a chance at first team. Thrown in the deep end as morison put it.

Last player we threw in the deep end was bayliss and he did okay! Thr lack of faith must he really concerning

A 17 year old Martyn Waghorn got given a debut by Roy Keane against Man Utd on Boxing Day. So I don’t buy the “fans will get on Tavares back” argument either. If Tavares needs protection from our fans by Robins then he’ll never make it.

Yep. It's sink or swim in football. Throw these young lads in and see what happens. What's the worst that can happen?

We don't play a high intensity game any more. We dropped that tactic a while ago and now are a possession side with no cutting edge.

I accept those points but the difference is Howley is 18 and there is little need at this stage to get him to the first team other than for the match day experience. Tavares is 21 the same age as Foden. Foden has played over 80 Premier League matches and 30 Champions League matches so it’s hardly a comparison. Foden also made his debut fir the first team at least 3 seasons ago aged about 18. Tends to show that Pep’s philosophy is give him a taste then slowly allow him to play more. Think that’s all we’re saying.

Most players playing at 21 in an u23 side don’t make it as they aren’t good enough and that’s the likely case here

If he isn’t going to give him a run out when we have 1/2 fit strikers then when is he ever. He had no problems playing Eccles who is the same age and had less league experience prior

We don’t have the legs for it the squad is thin hence why we hoped for faces in jan
We dropped it long before tiredness became an issue.

Teams worked us out and started playing a deep line and letting us have the ball knowing we'd not be able to do much with it.

he clearly doesn’t think he’s good enough

Worries me when a manager makes excuses for players. Forgive them for being tired and guess what...they stop running.
It was obvious from the start last night that 0-0 was in his thoughts. Which seems a strange decision when you're playing a player like Allen in Hamers position. Ran around like a headless chicken

We’ve I think managed 22 points in tbe last 19 games - the flying start and Derby point reductions have masked what we have - a relegation team
