I honestly don’t think so. It’ll be like a Dyche or Howe situation at Burnley and Bournemouth respectively. He either takes us as far as he can and he gets sacked after a period of managed decline or he walks because he’s taken us as far as he can.
If he takes us back up to the Prem and keeps us there, he’ll have cemented himself as our best ever manager. Older cohorts of fans may disagree, but there isn’t an argument against it.
We don't need to get to the Prem and then stay there to see Robins as our best manager. I can't see what the debates are about because no manager in my lifetime has taken over our club in such a bad state. Everything he has had thrown at him has just made him more determined.
Played home games away from Coventry? Done it twice.
Squad he took over was average League 2 at best. But he ended up getting them together and giving us our highest league table finish in nearly 50 years and getting us promoted.
Just a couple of seasons later League 1 champions although Covid made it an anticlimax.
Kept improving us every season culminating in losing on penalties in the playoff final when many spent much of the season expecting a relegation battle.
Losing two special players but putting an excellent side together for this season the first time he had money to spend. The money raised by selling his signings. Yet again called clueless and wasted 20m. But here we are with an excellent chance of making the FA Cup quater final and starting to make a gap between us and 7th and below. Another season we were supposed to be in a relegation battle.
My question is always the same to those who have wanted rid of him. Who could we get that would be better. Never had a single sensible reply.
I'm in my mid 50's. Can anyone suggest another manager who has had such an impact in my days? Has any manager improved us constantly or even more than just for a couple of seasons? And our journey together isn't over yet.
